The way I see it, this purpose of this budget is for the Government to hand over your money to foreigners, often in a charitable manner, and then they take the credit.

The "aid" is usually offered with strings attached.

I think if the government was a bit more upfront about what the strings are exactly foreign aid might not be as unpopular.

Income from VED is about £6 billion a year.

DfID's 2013 budget is £11.3 billion.

Much of which ends up being handed to Brussels for "wealth creation" in the EU, i.e. propping up State industries.

Me, I think something along the lines that we (the British nation) have enough aid issues at home that could do with being sorted out first.
Is it me or am I being cynical : British aid = oil and trade opportunities for big business?
