I thought I'd be best asking for advice before going out and spending money. Something I should have done before spending all that money on leathers the other month.

What are the general opinions on Roof lids? I've seen a few of you with them from pictures.

This is the one I've been looking at. It's the Le Mans model, as it's silver and matches everything else. Razz

£230 is the cheapest I've seen it.

Does anyone know any other sites I could check for better prices? Also, before any of you say anything I have tried various sizes on already and I know the size that fits me (M - 58). It's very good fitting. Out of all the other brands I've tried, this fitted the best.

I think £230 is about right for the tarty version. I paid about £200 for the plain one. Razz

What to say - I like it. It's comfortable and all, and won some magazine (MCN?) award for best helmet in 2002. That said I haven't tried any other helmets so can't compare it. A few others ahve the same lid so may be able to say more.

When I was looking at helmets online I really wanted a Roof Diversion but didn't think I would be able to afford it. Turned out it was the only one that fitted my XL noggin.

Bad points? Maybe it's the same with all helmets but the bit above the visor gets quite scratched from opening - I think the visor maybe touches it slightly.

The visor shape is unusual. I think it looks good, but if like me you use visor inserts you'll find you have to cut them down and as the visor is convex the visor insert is never flush against the inside of the visor. Of course you can buy replacement visors but only official Roof ones fit which are quite pricey.

Also the strap is seatbelt style. Up to you if you like that or D rings.

Thanks for that mate. I was also wondering if there are silver mirrored visors for these models. The only ones I've ever seen are the black ones or the rainbow ones. Anybody know anywhere that makes them?

Oh and I found the silver version of the 'daytona' rather then the 'le mans' (as above) which has just the one big stripe down the middle. Looks a bit better I think.

When I look for visors I usually find black ones and the rainbox irridium. I know that you can get Gold visors and I presume also Silver. They are quite difficult to find though. Mr C had one for his but I think he got it at a show.

They also have a tendency to break your nose in a crash, due to how close the front of the helmet is to your face.

That's rather worrying! Shocked Thanks for the tip though. How many cases have you heard of that?

Only two, but I've heard from talking to others that this is an issue with this helmet, but only in big crashes.

I've noticed that it is close to my face but I thought that was just te way all helmets are.

If I "purse" my lips I can kiss the front of the helmet. Is that normal?

It was Kev who broke his nose in a Diversion wasn't it?

preferable to them twats what have open face ones with sunglasses on road... or infact the flip up ones, which are almost as shtie and sold as open face if i recal cos they arent even half as strong as full face.

The rubber breath deflector in my Arai just about touches the tip of my nose, but the proper front part of the lid is nowhere near. I couldn't touch the front of my lid with any part of my face no matter how much I manage to contort it! Wink

Hmm, having second thoughts about the roof now. Confused I wish I could find a place that sells them locally so I could go and try it again. It was at the scottish bike show I tried it.

Good enough for police biker, good enough for anyone else.

Just tried on my way home with my current lid. I can get my bottom lip and my chin to touch if i force it. But sliding it down the way it misses completely.
