I want to get some new gloves for riding in. Was looking at the Gerbing Waterproof heated gloves, but wondered if anyone could let me know if they are any good.

Gloves I have, although meant to be waterproof, I can assure you they aint.

I was hoping that I could delay buying these for a year, but as the poxy weather hasnt improved and its still snowing end of March/April, I think I should invest in these now.

Any ideas, if I dont get the Gerbing's what would be as good. I also would like the gloves to be heated.

Buying and fitting heated grips will cost about 70.00 so I can put this towards a decent set of gloves, I was looking to spend about 50-60 pounds on anyway. So about 150.00 if I need to.

I cannot offer any real opinion on them. There is a youtube instructor called "RoadcraftNottingham" that has a pair (I believe) and did a review on them. I'd have a look for his video. Can't go on youtube to link you from work.

Consider getting some decent muffs instead - the only way I've found that works for extended periods to stop my hands getting wet.

Problem with gloves is creating a flexible material thin enough to use controls which can handle effectively having a pressure washer pointed at it for hours on end (as you get when you add speed of bike to speed of rain.)

Dont look at the oxford heated grips, they're expensive. You can pick up a set of R&G grips or Dr. Bike grips for around £35.

I agreed with the muffs, they are a god send! I can get away with wearing summer gloves inside for a good feel but still stay warm and dry because of the neoprene outer Very Happy

I have only one pair of non-gortex gloves for the two days of the British Summer. The others are waterproof.
If you can remember to tuck the cuff of the glove into the sleeve of your jacket then rain cannot run down you arms into the gloves.
This is the fastest way to get waterproof gloves wet inside.

The gloves you have can be re-proofed to a degree using one of the nikwax products. They have stuff in a tin like dubbing but it is specialised waxes. I do my 'summer' gloves with that stuff when they look a bit grubby. (Usually just dust from non-use).

I use Alpine Stars Gortex. These are insulated so keep my handi-pops warm for about twenty minutes. I use heated grips too. They are well waterproof too. £120-ish

I'm currently using some Gerbing's heated gloves. Lovely and warm in this weather, however I've found some reliability issues. Prior to that I was using some Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-Tex gloves, which although very waterproof didn't really cut it on frosty days.

I've done a couple of write up on these gloves on my blog. Why not pop over and have a gander:-

Muffs seem the way to go. But doesnt look to be a lot of room on the bird for them.

Anyone fitted them to the blackbird, and if so what make.

Cheers

Steer clear of r&g grips if your considering heated ones. Had them for about 3 months and the grip has gone on one of them to near slick and the heat is nowhere near what it was.

Daytona are the way forward

£38 for muffs, however much you can find Daytona grips for.

I'll be removing them and putting them on my next commuter bike for sure.

I'd go for muffs before grips.

Keep wind off rather than keep palms warm.
