Hi

Well, the Divvy handling had been going off, having a habit of trying to go into a tank slapper when you let go of the bars. I replaced the steering head bearings (they were slightly notchy) and had the rear shock rebuilt but it had no effect. Also replaced the oil in the forks. Couldn't feel any play in the wheel bearings.

Last weekend I too the back wheel out to check the swinging arm bearings (first time the wheel has been out since I bought it) and noticed that the bearing on the rear sprocket carrier was not a sealed bearing and was a bit rough, and one of the wheel bearings had a damaged seal. Ordered some new ones and went to fit them today.

On the Divvy, in common with loads of Yamahas, there are 2 bearings in the wheel on the chain side (so in total that is 4 bearings). Knocked out the one on the brake side, too out the spacer and knocked out the bearings on the chain side (they could out together). Well, I thought I did, but I can only find one bearing from that side that I removed, and with 2 in place now the outer bearing is further out.

Hopefully I have just found out why the handling was dodgy. Missing wheel bearing Shocked . Getting to think that any bike we buy we should strip down and rebuild before we dare ride it.

All the best

Keith

hey mate, my dad has a haynes manual for it still. Dunno if its of any help but if your in the general south east next time its a sunnyish day you could come down and borrow it for a tad? He used to have a divvy 600, horrid bike, but that was probs just cos of the 33 bhp restrictor, altho went fairly well from 40 - 80, just below and above - shocking Sad

Anyway from what i can tell most examples have shite handling.

Hi

Thanks for the offer but I have got a Haynes for it, and an original Yamaha manual. Just that normally you do not need to count the number of wheel bearings!

To be honest this one actually handled OK until recently. Yes they are fairly softly sprung (now improved with the right amount of fresh oil in the forks), but I am fairly light.

All the best

Keith
