Hi,
I am going to purchase a pair of Michelin Pilot Sporty tyres for my Yamaha YBR 125 and was wondering if any body has already sourced the cheapest place to buy them?

Many thanks in advance,

Paul.

Just put a set on my wee commuter. Brilliant tyres compared to the standard.

I got them from

everything but bikes.

Got them for a great price. Had to wait 2 weeks as they didn't have them in stock.

Excellent Tyres, Will be excellent in the wet trust,

When i got on my bike first time the steering felt hard because the tyres provide better grip.

I got mine from J and S in birmingham 120 quid fitted for both, Good deal as i was getting a bit scared on standards.

Get It

See what deal you can get at your bike garage.

When I got these tyres on my CBR125, I took the wheels to the garage, got the tyres through the garage and therefore I only had to pay the price of the tyre as part of a deal. Fitting and balancing was free.

Got to agree with this. Got some Pilot Sportys a while ago. Looking to get them fitted now, take the wheels alone into a garage they are £20 a tyre to fit. Take the bike into a garage, its £30+ per wheel for removal, fitting, balancing.

Buy a set of ContiGo's from the garage for £90, fitting and balancing is free. Tempted to go with the Conti's and sell the Pilots.

Yes, oponeo.co.uk

£33 for a rear was good.

Pilot sportys a good tyre for the ybr, used to use them on mine. They only lasted a few thousand miles though so running metzeler me22's now, which havent let go on me in the wet, which i cant say for the pilot sporty.

Oponeo.co.uk what i use Thumbs Up

In my experience, the Michelins are far better tyres. Instills more confidence than the Conti's. (Replaced conti's with the michelins on the CBR and have stuck with Michelin since)

But if it boils down to price, the Conti's aren't bad tyres at all.

Will just say have just taken some BT45's off a honda NSR,
Only came off because there was a nail through the front and fancied a change.
Have been told these are a little stickier.

Just a note on the BT45's.
Around 2 years old and > 10,000 miles are there is plenty of life left in both (tread wise, nail kind'a ruined the front).
Good tires, never really pushed the NSR very hard tbh.

Looking forward to trying the sprotys soon.

Local bike place wanted £15 per tire loose so thought bugger that.
£20 and a few days got me levers, rim protectors etc.
Its a bugger of a job but very much 85% technique 15% effort.

Will get back on what I think about the sportys compared to the BT45's if anyone is interested.

Michelin Road Pilot 3's FTW. Cost £250 fitted but they're the best tyres I've used before, had 3 sets so far on the ninja.

Do they do them in stock sizes for the YBR? I remember having them on my CBR125 and they were +10mm al round so turn in was harsher and a little unpredictable in the wet.

Hated Conti Go although they did last longer than the sportys.

Sounds about right - 90/90 18s on the back, can't remember the front size but the Michellin web site allows you to put in your bike and it'll tell you what size you need.

Buying pilot sportys on ebay is a mugs game.

Watling tyres @ £56 for a rear, including fitting, balancing & a new valve. Most tyre garages offer free fitting if you buy rubber with em, most bike shops charge between £12.50 & £20 for loose wheels if you buy the tyres online.

Save £5 on a tyre & spend £20 extra to have it fitted? Nah.

Glad someone brought that up! Cool

HAHAHA NOOO, its not funny. I can trade in my r125 for a 600cc any time want.
For me with the insurance costs is not worth it taking into account the max speed i can go on my commute is 40mph, ill wait for my ncb and then get a 600cc Middle Finger .

If you chose something sensible it wouldn't be so high, a XJ600 is <300 for me to insure with 2 claims on my record and no NCB

I paid more for my YBR Confused

Well its 2.5k for me for with no ncb. I want a SV fully faired though, cheaper than the XJ6 for some reason (in terms of insurance).

Just can't wait for the the modding aspects of the SV. Gsxr forks, carbon exhaust, new body kit maybe etc.

Dodgy neighbourhood?

Shouldn't be anywhere near that much Shocked , but then insurers do look at bikes you've previously insured to build a picture of the type of rider.. Hmm Wink
What year quote did you did on the XJ6?? Mine was for an older 97 one, via thebikeinsurer
