Hi,
Before I begin I'll point out at no point would I touch the gas side of my boiler. I maybe soft but I'm not daft Very Happy
Started having a problem recently were my Halstead boiler (piece of crap I know) locks out as it hasn't detected a flow. Looking inside I noticed that the plunger which pushes the primary flow microswitch is very sluggish. When water has been run and the plunger is extended it retracts very slowly when the hot water tap has been turned off. Sometimes it doesn't retract fully so the microswitch contact isn't broken.

I replaced both the diagrpphams, gland nuts and microswitches over 3 years ago and have had no problems since (besides the secondary heat exchanger which regularly furs up.)

Prior to this problem the pump made a very loud noise one night as if it were stuck or struggling. Not sure if this maybe related.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

I would start with bleeding the pump.
Actually I am lying. I would start with buying a Viessmann boiler.
And I agree with moving the thread idea Laughing

So is the problem with heating or hot water? You say primary flow but then mention what sounds like a diverter valve with a plunger pushing a microswitch for domestic hot water.. ?

If it is the diverter valve for the domestic water, providing its the type with a diaphragm pushing out a pin making a microswitch, it could well be that it's self which is causing a problem. May be struggling to push in/ out, meaning the boiler may not see a demand for hot water and possibly mean that it's sends it heat around the plate heat exchanger rather than the central heating flow?

Just an educated guess I do not know the boiler exactly.
