My only tip (as I only passed mine about 3/4 months ago) is that you've got to relax.

I started my CBT panicing about everything, and as a result I paid less attention to what was going on around me. Just take it easy and if you make a mistake correct yourself and carry on, don't panic and slam on, etc...

So, relax, pay attention and remember that everyone makes mistakes just make sure you learn from them and the instructor should give you your L plates Smile

My advice: Have fun and enjoy it as much as you can!

I was a complete novice on the day of my CBT, I knew nothing. At first I was a bit scared but soon got into it and by the time I was on the road I was loving it Laughing

Enjoy Thumbs Up

Best thing to do on your CBT is relax, and listen to the instructor!

And don't piss the instructor off like I did Twisted Evil

(I was trying to keep up with the rest of the pack and took a stupid chance turning right into a road, and a car was like 3 yards from hitting me Embarassed )

Also when you go out on the road relax into the ride and don't try and keep up with the rest of the pack, endagering yourself as they will always wait for you.

main points have been covered i think, but just remember it's not a strict test, or even a test as such so just have fun and listen to the instructor- it's a good day out! Wink

Goes without say, but first time on the road you've got to be careful. Remember to cancel indicators and don't forget the shoulder check (life saver) or emergency stop. They come in very handy when out on the road. If your nervous, just relax and remember that the instructor wants to hand you the certificate at the end of the day.
I think its impossible to fail the CBT but good luck anyway Thumbs Up

Also remember to stay in the middle of your lane, you pay road tax just like car drivers so stick to the middle of your lane, that was the only thing that p*ssed my CBT instructor off, when we veered to the left like on a Mountain Bike.

Relax, it is extremely unlucky you will fail, I've heard stories of people falling off and still passing.

Ok as a CBT instructor i think i can safely say you dont have a thing to worry about, firstly and most importantly the CBT is NOT a test! Its a course comprising of lots of small tasks that you must complete to a satisfactory standard before you can move on to the next one, when you have completed all of the modules you are then taken on a 2 hour (minimum) ride on the public road where you will be expected to carry out all the things you have been taught by your instructor safely and correctly. If you do this you will get a lovely crisp CBT certificate Very Happy However if he refuses to give you the certificate he must give you a valid reason i:e you jump a red light or you cause a car to swerve to avoid you, but i feel that if a student does not reach a safe standard then it is more a reflection of my ability to teach than theirs to ride, as i am supposed to have taught them! For more information you can purchase the DSA's official book on the CBT (official motorcycling CBT,theory & practical test) from any local bookshop price is £7.99 and its isbn no. is 0-11-552519-X this is exactly what you should be taught and your instructor is not allowed to deviate from it. I'm sorry it's so long winded but i hope this helps, good luck and have fun! Very Happy

Its really nothing to worry about. It's got more in common with a bike lesson than a test. They expect you to know nothing, so don't be afraid to ask anything..no matter how stupid it may sound Razz
so long as you dont kill anyone and show that you are able to learn basic safety you will pass. Alot of what they have you doing is really showing you what you need to practise for your test.

Just have fun and get to know your bike and the road a bit better Very Happy

The hardest part of the CBT for me was the emergency stop. Saying that the brakes were really rubbish on the bike I was provided with.
