Odd question but...
Of those of you holding a full licence who has or hasn't taken a passenger
Reason being another forum i post on there seemed to be a suppriseing number how had not for one reason or another??
remember not includeing people on l-plates, seeing as you can't really even if you wanted to (legaly anyway)..
I just assumed everyone would have, one of the first things i did when i got my licence!
(have done a search for a smiliar poll could not see any, feel free to set the dogs on me if its been done all to often) ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Nope, never taken a pillion ....
My bike now has no pegs and a seat cowl, but might be taking a pillion soon as my mate needs someone to take him to pick up his GSXR600 soon and considering it were him that took me to pick up my R6, I said if I can find a pillion seat then I'd take him...
but scared, very scared not sure what to expect really but sure I'll be alright once I get going. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Have once, on my ped, illegally, down the road and into a carpark.
And around the car park.
Let him ride it in the car park too.
But when I have my full test under my belt, I won't.
I have a bike because I enjoy the whole, going out alone, and stuff.
Although and sexy ladies, they can come for a ride, anytime.

Bah excuses
have a trawl through this lot, lots of very handy info here...
https://www.survivalskills.clara.net/riding_skills_38.htm
Takeing a passenger is great, quite scarey at first but gets easyer (depending on the bike, some are a bit of a handfull two up)
many a time first thing girls say when you tell them you have a motorbike is "can i have a ride?" it would be rude not to you might as well let them on your bike too... sorry...
* never attempt frighten your girlfriend, not only will you get your ass kicked she will never go on it again - and more importantly take it upon herself to mention how much of a death trap they are at every opertunity, and when money gets tight... say bye to your motorbike!
** You do get extra points if you can scare your mates enough to make them squeel in a high pitched way , just not female friends, you will loose.
Acutually a looong time ago my first go on a motorbike arround a (deserted in the middle of the night) car park then second time arround i took a passenger, twas the same just a bit... heavyer... but not all that difficult. so if i can do it with 20seconds experience... tis no bigy, just take it easy. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes<

you can go more nuts solo, but sharing the expirence is good. especially if they have never been on a bike before or claim not to see the point of them. they jop on, you open the throttle and scare holy crap out of them |

Plenty times.
When someone needs a lift, I always seem to get nominated, due to having a 'proper' back seat.
Though I've also been chosen cos apparently I'm the least likely to crash. |

Did it once around the back country roads a few times, once with friend on the back was drunk and it was pitch black (about 11pm) with no street lights. My friend kept panicking and freaking out everynow and then which made interesting riding (he grabbed my helmet in a really tight grasp).
Also road pillion on the back of my mates shagged DT50, my mate was 20 stone, I was 10, the bike had been used for jumping and had 30,000 miles on the clock. Never in my hole life had I been sure we were going to crash, never had I experianced such wallowing, litterally felt like the bike was going to snap! What was worse was my mate was trying to show off as well, going diagonally accross juctions to maintain what speed we had! Didn't have a helmet on either (he picked me up when I was walking home and took me the last leg though my housing estate), havent been on piillion since ____________________ My bike: 1988 Kawasaki KH100 Status: Polluting Devon with two stroke smog and noise pollution!

Yep, my son and my missus! The only thing is that the bike 'behaves' differently - so you have to be extra careful. It doesn't help when the boy leans the wrong way ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

I take my g/f pillion to work nearly everyday.
The only other pillion I have had is Mike who I took on the Herts ride out a few weeks ago as he has no bike at the 'mo. ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |

nope never have - I didn't really think the NSr was up to it and I've not had the zx6r long enough to feel confident enough to take someone else. This has not stopped people volunteering for a go - which surprised me, I thought they'd all be too nervous but no, from my dad to my sister to my friends they're all offering to have a shot! And it's me that's saying no... not what I expected before I got the bike ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush

Before I took my first passenger, as I wasn't sure I was keen on the idea, I kept asking people who I thought would wimp out and sure enough they all did.
Then one day someone said yes, and of course then I had to save face. All went smoothly although the difference in handling surprised me at first. Felt great after I'd dropped them off though, suddenly the bike seemed soooo much easier to ride. ____________________ "It's all about dislocating expectation"

I've taken pillions lots of times, I quite enjoy it too.
Myself and MrsHippy did 1800 miles in 4 days through France 2 up . It was great, but I was knackered at the end of it ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

I've taken a Pillion only once before.
And I despised it, my brakes didn't work and the bike didn't handle at all (Maybe I should have turned the preload up, but you try and do it on any GS500. )
It didn't help that the pillion was a newbie to bikes and was flailing his arms about like a sodding bird!
I wonder if the ZZR will have better Pillion abilities. |

I regularly have my girlfriend on the back - she's only 5 foot tall and weights 7 stone so feels more like a back pack than a pillion, apart from when she slides forward and my nuts take the full force against the tank - I'll learn progressive braking one day!
Have taken some mates a few times, a different kettle of fish completely, the bike becomes soooo slooooooow....... |

I haven't yet. Keep trying to see if the g/f would like to have a go, but she's not keen, and I'm not going to force her. If she doesn't want to, she doesn't.
Strangely, my mum wants a go though. I think she's been a closet bike chick for years and not told anyone! ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

Haven't yet but kids are interested in having a go so anyday now. I've first got to sort out some kit for them to wear.
It should make the school run a little more interesting |
