If a bike's frame and engine numbers are out by two digits do they "match"? I ask because I recently spoke to a seller who, when I asked if the bike had matching numbers, said ah well that's a good question and the answer, strictly speaking, is no. He then said he'd asked around and been told by one source that a minor mismatch like this was not unheard of - and that as such, the numbers do 'match'. Me, I don't know. What he's saying makes sense (I mean, what're the odds of blah blah - you get me) - but on the other hand, aren't the two numbers supposed to, well, match? The bike in question is an early '80s Honda.
