I knew the front mudguard bolts were a bit odd when I put it together.

I went out for a spin, was nearing home when I heard a rattling at slow speed. Oh well, I thought, only 5 minutes from home, I'll check it out then.
So tonne up on the dual carriageway and suddenly there's a banging and the distinct smell of burning rubber.
I pulled over into layby and it turned out the retaining bolts on the mudguard had come loose, leaving it flapping around on the main pivot bolts, which had also loosened under the strain. There's now a big triangular hole at the front of the mudguard and it's blistered in the heat so no chance of repair. Luckily the front (brand new!) tyre is OK.

Thank god for cheap R6 parts! Also thank god for tool kits and keeping some emergency cable ties to hand!

Oh dear. Sad

Out of interest have you fitted a 70 profile front tyre as that can rub on the mudguard unless you do the correct modifaction to the front mudguard. You'll be best finding out about this on the R6MessageNet.

It is a 70, but when the mudguard's fixed it seems fine... I'll take a look at that forum though, ta. Nice to see your headaches have eased up enough to dole out advice Very Happy

I mean just how dumb is that!....sorry if it comes across a bit strong, but im guessing you might be a few spanners short in the toolbox department! Shocked

No, I've some quality spanners in my toolbox thanks.
We all do daft things on the odd occasion, but there's no need for that.

OK, I couldn't be arsed to type it all in, but I did pull in for a moment, leap off the bike and test a few things with my hand before leaping off to go onto the dual carriageway. The mudguard didn't come up in my speed test.

As his signature.

Knock it off RSixer03, just because she's female doesn't make her dumb. I'm damn sure she was sensible about what she was doing.

First off Bella its a quote!...not real life i suggest you learn the difference! Thumbs Up

secondly where in my comment do i call her stupid because she was a female?, the comment was aimed at this person because of her actions which i thought to be foolish at best...

if you think that doing a tonne on a dual carriageway with a knocking noise on your bike is sensible then....go ahead and say it Thumbs Up

Sorry Bella, but I'm with RSixer on this one. It was a bit daft and he didn't mention sex at all.

Afraid to say it myself, but again I would go with Mcjam and RSixer03. There wasn't any mention of sex, which confuses me on a reply based on sexist comments. But personally i've been having a few problems with my bike at the moment, strange noises, etc and me knowing that there's (a) problem(s), worries me, so i'm not going out on it till i've tracked the problem and sorted it. Thumbs Up
