Basically i would like to know if anyone has slept in a garage to protect a bike?

We have had issues with garages been broken into on my street in Bradford over the past few weeks. Out of the 30 houses 4 have had their garages broken into.

2 weeks ago the house up the street had the garage door pulled off by a transit van and when the door was laying in the driveway the 2 robbers shurgged their shoulders as they were obviously not expecting an empty garage.

I obviously have taken all precautions to protect my garage.

Ground Anchours, Motion sensor alarms, extra bolted locks around the door frames, security lights, a baby monitor ect...... ect.... I have done everything physically possible.

I came home from work today and found that all the security lights had had the sensors rotated 180 degrees so they were facing the wall they were mounted on and the sensitivity adjuster had been turned down to its lowest setting.

At this point i realized the next attack was to be on my garage tonight or near future.

So..........

Tonight i am sat in my garage on an old mattress fully clothed in an army issue sleeping bag wearing a balaclava (I look a little like phonejacker having a sleep over)

I have a 4 foot metal bar and am waiting to be woken up in the earlier hours. I am just wondering at what point i should disturb the burglars? Should i let them get in and give chase? Hide in the garage and twat them both over the head as soon as they enter? At what point do i call the police? I have already informed the police that my garage will be robbed tonight.

So now all i have to do is wait. I do have my GoPro mounted on my helmet which i will be putting on as soon as i hear a noise and i have also mounted a head lamp on the helmet.

I have even made pre-shaped hand cuffs out of cable ties ready to pop on the hands of anyone myself and my neighbor catch.

I told my brother about what is likely to happen so he bought this on the way home from work and gave it to me.

https://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii302/ian505050/ian505050%202/IMAG2983_zps3c1a2ccb.jpg

I have not mounted it yet as if i set it off in error i may cause myself or the pet rabbits in the garage to have a heart attack.

so.................

I wait.................

Has anyone else done this?

Do you have someone ready to post your bail fee when the old bill take you in for defending your property?

part of me hopes they do try and break in so you can give the bastards the good hiding they deserve now.
I don't blame you doing that one bit.
I may have left the sensors where they were though so they don't suspect anything.

I thought about that but i would prefer no to have to confront them and hope the lights deter them.

This is one to watch. Laughing

As long as you don't kill them, you should be able to get off... sort of. Not in a sex way though, obviously Laughing

I'll be waiting for a YouTube link. That being said though, if there's loads of the fuckers, don't try and fight them off because you won't win.

I have had no choice as the probability of a break in is 99% and i have advised the police who do not have the resources to do anything.

Its simply my opinion in the eyes of the police that i will get robbed but in my eyes its almost certain that people are going to rob my garage and possessions tonight. What choice do i have when its a certainty in my eyes and my garage door is not that great.

Phone the Police AS SOON as you hear them. If they do gain access, make sure it isn't the Police checking before you attack them xD.

why not talk to JiveBunny and see if he'll lend you his police baton? Laughing

[serious] remember you can only attack them while they are actively attempting to remove your property or cause harm or distress to yourself... if theyre standing in the doorway you can only make threats... (if you dial 999 and leave the line open so they hear you shouting at intruders you should get a police attendance PDQ)[/serious]

or stand there naked in a gimp mask holding a foot long dildo shouting "what took you so long?! i've been waiting for ages!"

Can tell them to get off your land and then use reasonable force to do so if they refuse.

You just can't arm yourself and lay in wait, legally.
I'm telling you so you don't go blurting it out to all who ask that that is what you did, and much worse, make a video of it!

You can spin it so you were doing late-night work in the garage, picked up the nearest available thing to defend yourself etc. But admitting you camped there with a weapon to spring an ambush is inadvisable to say the least. Courts hate vigilantees.

when that mine goes off and the plod get a "shots fired" shout they will turn up a lot quicker..........

If I read this sooner you could have borrowed Bear ,
Some twat went after my R1200RT soon after I got it but they were alarmed opening the garage door and being faced with two Alsatians who have free run of the place.. cost me a bit to get the scuffs taken off the pannier lid when they dropped the bike against the wall,,,,

the police attitude is a bit naff as they could have used your place as a bait camp and waited for the twats to turn up and resolved a number of outstanding cases in one go ...?????

How was it?

I've actually had a dream before about placing bait to lure thieves. I've always wanted to know if anyone would jump on my bike and attempt to ride off if they could hear the motor running.

By using a cyclone v2 remote start, this could actually be done. But obviously if the key is not in the ignition and they try and rev then nothing will happen Mr. Green. Then i will jump out with my baseball bat and swing till their skull reaches a similar consistency as mashed potatoe 'self defense Twisted Evil '
