Right Im going to have a couple of projects on the go this summer, on is a 600 diversion which im picking up the weekend and this other is my trusty Honda CB350SG.

The aim of this project is to strip down, respray, new engine and a general tidy up. I am planing a Cafe racer style look, without the actual cafe racer bodywork. something along the lines of this!

I have found a place to get the wheels and frame powder coated and ive found a 6k engine on the bay. I will get some pictures of its current state later and upload. I have new rubber grommets, and stainless steel bolts already and will be getting the wheels off this weekend and stripping the bike down to the frame!

how can you want your bike to look like the picture? it would take 20 minutes to get it to look like that, and it looks shit.

Rip off the airbox.
Shove a gash sticker on the tank.
Job done.

Engine out of frame and bike bare now.

Frames dropped of to the PC, forgot to take pics before it went. Had to take a dremel to the center stand bolt as it wouldn't budge.

Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to have a frame powder coated with swing arm? Is it possible to have the forks done too?

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/stuartkeith/DSC_0068_zpsebba9baa.jpg

Brake discs after 1st soak in rust remover. I think one is warped will need to check on a sheet of glass.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/stuartkeith/DSC_0063_zpsba00ec42.jpg

The brake calliper after primed and 2 light coats. Need to rub down and do another couple. And some badly rusted springs cleaned and sprayed.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/stuartkeith/DSC_0066_zpsff8fbb29.jpg

And axles in soak to remove rust.

Aye she dose burn a little bit! Hence a new engine!

Before polish and after. Autosol and dremmel.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/stuartkeith/DSC_0062_zpse3a1ca79.jpg

TBH, the only reason why im rebuilding this, is the fact its the 1st bike after a 3yr lay off, and Ive spent a bit of cash on the old gal, and I have grown attached to her little quirks and things. Very Happy

I remember that ride and his 50 mile service intervals Laughing

I do like the bike in the OP but then I always seem to like oddball bikes.

Few more bits done the last couple of days. Just rubbed down the swing arm and sprayed the 1st coat of silver onto it. Noticed some grazing so will leave till tomorrow and sand them areas down.

https://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/stuartkeith/DSC_0116_zps317f27d8.jpg

Also started on the tank as well Got the electric sander and 150grit paper out to get the stickers off and prep. Been putting some auto glym glue and tar remover over the residue to break the adhesive down.

OK some more bits. I have repaired the cracked seat cowl and made a new mount for the front left. I made it from a piece of broken cowl that was attached to my spare frame.

Lemon juice and distilled water? Interesting...

I almost bought one of these, can't wait to see how the bits you're painting end up.
