Hi Guys,

I'm a complete noob and was wondering if you could help me identify some helmets and possibly let me know how much they are worth.

They were given to me by a friend who can't be bothered to do anything with them but seeing some prices online made me think about selling them.

Anyhow they are 3 helmets made by Nolan, pictures attached.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Because helmets have a limited shelf life. That one was made in 1995 for example, and polycarbonate lids have a shelf life of approximately 3 years.

Not only that, second hand helmets are worth next to nothing online as nobody wants to take the risk that the helmet has in some way been compromised or damaged by a previous owner.

They are only good for the skip really, or donate them to your local Ambulance station for use with demonstrations and training.

A lid is a colloquialism for helmet.

As said, second hand helmets have very little value. The only ones that tend to be worth something are in limited edition racer schemes. And even then, not very much.

O, and as they've had the stickers and crap removed from the visor. They're not brand new. They've been used. At least in my eyes. Thumbs Up

Although you say they have never been used, I don't think anyone will believe it.

As said, them helmets are 18 years old. There are people in this country riding around on full motorcycle licenses who are younger than these lids..

Yeah, wouldn't want to risk it with a 18 year old helmet Shocked The polycarb degrades over time, that's why there's a shelf life.

Also they may be new, but you can't tell if they've been dropped at all while in storage..

Actually, on Facebook a couple of weeks ago a BCFer was asking for old lids for some sort of art project. Can't remember who now though.

If I recall, Parademics can use them for training? For when dealing with a crash-helmet wearing victims. Might be worth donating to some cause like that.

saying that, if the paramedics don't want them bike schools might for use of showing how lids work, where I did my cbt they had a few lids showing how damage occurrs etc and one cut in half to show how it absorbs some impact etc and to highlight just because the shell is fine doesn't mean the inner part is

Or maybe you could get two, cut them in half, glue them together and make a really lo-fi bowling ball?
