My hips and arse really hurt. My wrist aches. I'm going to be stiff as a board tomorrow.

It was truly excellent fun though! Very Happy Very Happy I fell off or was knocked off more times than I could count, only got my knee down the once (other than crashing and saving crashes against the barriers), but I still had a whale of a time! Laughing

I think I was the only person to manage to highside one too. Embarassed

Had an interesting pillion ride down the motorway and back up the A6 too, which was nice, if a little painful on the shoulders and hands. Smile

Anyone who hasn't tried it really should do. Thumbs Up Smile

Agree with you there, never done a track day mini moto session but ive watched one. Glad you had fun, best way to get your knee down is ride in a circle.

For minimoto;
Find a slowish corner, and just take it faster and faster until you crash.

Your knee should go down before this. When you go fast enough to crash, just keep it at just before that speed next time round Thumbs Up Smile.

When you've done it a bit you get a feel of the rear sliding and can prevent a crash.

On a grippy service you can get the power down while still quite leant over.

First time I went I think I crashed about 10 times...any less and you're not trying hard enough Smile.

If you have only ridden minimotos on carparks I can definitely reccomend a proper track; much more fun!

Agree with above. Didn't crash on my first time round but didnt get to the point where the back was wiggling all over the place and once it slipped the gripped but then the front tyre went in the same direction co tounter balance the sudden grip. Laughing

Can't wait for may 1st. Knockhill with some other BCF'ers Very Happy

Mini moto are excellent me and my three brothers had ago at the bike show in Birmingham , they are great fun plus an easy way to get your knee down on every corner.

Plus when you fall off its only minor scratches.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I've ridden minimoto's on and off track. On track is funny, i crashed at least 6 times, the back end always steps out as you put down the power when banked over.

Off track is just as fun if there is enough of you. Kneedown is easy, just hang off the bike.

My everything also hurts from yesterdays minimoto. Can see what you're saying G, went storming into the fastest corner on the track, whacked my knee into the ground, then ankle, then was sliding into the barrier without ever slowing down... that hurts more today.

Great fun, large chunks are now missing from my knee sliders (at last, even if it was cheating) and the ankle protector on my boots is also ground out slightly (ankle was going down before toes Shocked)

A few of us from Manchester are thinking of going to Stoke for some mini moto racing soon. Is it advised to wear your normal bike kit (leathers/boots/helmet)? Don't want to end up with kit falling to pieces really.

You might not want to wear your own helmet, but so long as you've got toe sliders or manage to keep your feet mostly off the floor, everything else is a plus imo. Bouncing and sliding as much as I did, I think it was the fact that I was wearing all my normal kit which stopped me from getting hurt in anything other than my hips and my coccyx. Confused A back protector and hip armour might not be bad ideas...

I think the boots did a lot to stop my shins getting mashed from having hot, sharp bike bits on them too. If it's an indoor track with a smooth concrete surface, then you'd be hard pushed to get your kit damaged. If it's an outdoor circuit with relatively abrasive tarmac, then you'd be pushed not to scrape your kit a fair deal more on it. I scraped the ankles on my boots more than my toes, which is a little puzzling.

As far as getting my knee down went, either I'm just not flexible enough or my trousers weren't flexible enough in the groin, so I couldn't seem to extend my knee very far. The textiles were very nice for surfing the concrete though, very smooth. Mr. Green Then again, I might just not have been pushing hard enough, though I fell off at least 10-15 times. During the final session, I might have not fallen off in about perhaps 4 laps. Laughing
