Hard really to find a back story to this but Muslims don't like dogs as they're viewed as dirty so might just be something as simple as that. I like a good ending though Very Happy

Too bad it didn't take his leg off.

The muslims are a weird bunch when it comes to dogs. They own them but don't care for them, leave them tied up in their yard forever, but if one goes to attack you and you shoot it (in Afghanistan) they bitch and cry like it was their little baby puppy dog.

Always wondered if bare handed a man could fight off an angry dog, in fairness there were two dogs and the guy had a hoe or pickaxe or something, but I still think that's a pretty good indication that the dog would kick my arse!

Big angry dog barking and going at you with its teeth, it would be hard to overcome your instinct which is to go on the defensive rather than attack mode which is what you need to do.
Options are ramming your fist down the dogs throat, the last thing the dog will want to do is bite.
Grab its lower jaw and push it under and back, again the dog wont be able to bite.
Grab its front legs and pull them apart which will burst its heart.

All of above sounds easy in theory but when its a 20st rottweiler on the attack its going to take some serious balls to go on the offensive.

Really.

So tell me, with your obvious mastery of biomechanics; how in the hell is that supposed to work?

As I said in a recent "dangerous dogs" thread, I will go toe to toe with a labrador any day of the week.

Rotty/staff/mastiff? Yeah fuck that.

Evidence from a reliable source, not the ramblings of some unknown stranger on the internet?

I was told that a long time ago, i could easily have forgotten the exact details but the result of stretching a dogs front legs apart is the same.

Lol I jest Wink

At any rate, if a vicious dog is attacking, I think grabbing its front legs is unrealistic - both your hands would be occupied whilst its bitey head is free to clamp down on your jugular. That link also suggested grabbing the back legs and swinging it around like snapping a towel - I think thats more doable, even with a big dog, so long as you can wrestle with it and get ahold of those legs, you can then swing it around in circles, smash its head off a wall or lamp post and repeat.

Well, in theory anyway.
