Absolutely Gutted!

Took my test last friday and failed with one minor & one serious

I failed on the U-Turn (front wheel hit pothole and upset the bike's balance)

Has anyone got any suggestions for performing the "perfect" U-Turn?

Regards

Don't worry, i've rebooked my test for 28th.... i'll check for potholes before commencing the U-Turn.

Just a bit gutted, the examiner even commented on it being a good, safe ride.

Suppose it's just keep the revs up & use back brake to hold the bike back, and i promise if i pass, that'll be the last U-Turn

practise U turns constantly!

i find it better to ride normally, then when you come to a suitable road, dont just do a U turn, but do a full 360 and carry on going.

Sorry to hear about you failing! one minor is very good, that at least shows that you know what you're doing. serious faults are often caused by luck and circumstance. just practise more than before and rebook the test.

I just passed my driving test today, similarly i fucked up last test. i got 2 serious and 5 minors. would have been a decent pass if it were not for a few stupid little things. i retook the test today and got 3 minors. Bike test is next on my list of goals Very Happy

Congratulations on passing your test. I found the bike test to be easier than the car one, especially if the examiner's following you in the car as you can put some space between you and the examiner (my examiner was following in a 1.0l micra, i was on a er-5), so he probably didn't see a few of my mistakes.

Just got to find a bike to do the test on now, as my GPZ's speedo doesn't work.

At least you know you can do everything else, just keep practicing, I often spend a good 10-20 minutes on the road outsite my house doing U-turns before I set off anywhere, hehe.

When I did my test the instructor got me to push the bike round first for the u-turn to show it would go and then do a u-turn. If that's the same for you check for any potholes when you push it round.

Practise on loads of different roads so you get used to different conditions then nothing will throw you on the test.
Look ahead when you're doing the test so you can plan your turn to avoid potholes / drain covers / dead things / etc.

***Good Luck!!***
