Seems to be a lot of cover versions out these days, and just muttering the lyrics seems to be the done thing with the 'yoof' of today.
Latest one I heard was Aint no body by Chaka Khan. Im sure the twat Dermot O,Dreary will be playing it to death and saying how awesome it is?Sad

Chaka Khan did the original? Didn't some early reality show runners up cover that a decade ago?

I call it the Marilyn Manson effect.
Take one talentless fuckwit
Add in a good song
Reduce to half speed
Become star.

Marilyn Manson - Sweet dreams at half speed...because he is so good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHRyMcH6WMM

Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl6fyhZ0G5E

Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ybaiCgOFUQ

Or you can be this twunt and ruin two songs in one go, if you're a fan of Rhythm of the night and Rhythm is a dancer, do not listen to this pile of shite Bastille (whomever he is) has released

Lots of generic chart tunes as well that seem to rip the riffs and melodies out of older stuff, blatantly obviously trying to cash in on nostalgia.

Call me queers but I quite liked this cover at the time, cant fathom why they did it though.

I absolutely love the original - always sounds ace loud in a club. This is pretty fucking sweet imo (although the way he tries to do the "oh, oh, oh" build into the chorus doesn't seem to work very well):

Yeah I remember that Gary Jules cover - it was in Donnie Darko iirc. Great, great version - and the best xmas #1 ever (not that the competition is that tough, mind you). That was a decade ago this December. Holy mother of wank, that went quick. Crying or Very sad

Never seen the film.... but the song really stood out to me when it was used in the gears of war advert (although that might have been the REM version... I'm not sure)

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but a lot of the younger generation are a bit shocked when they hear their favourite song isn't the original (my friend if 41 and didn't realise NIN done the original version of Hurt).

Anyway, another one, which was actually sped up when re-re-re-released:

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah:

Yeah that's some weird vandalism of the original. Good stuff.

I used to love this cover of bushy Kate's classic:
