Thought i'd do a poll out of curiousity to see what the general consensus was after seeing mixed opinions about 'minimising risk' on the road on that racing pillion lawyer video thing thread Mr. Green

I've always thought they look crap if they go beyond a few inches while powering out of a corner. Like a chimp doing tricks in a circus, extremely ghey and naff.

Apart from that, if they're done such that coming off doesn't involve any other vehicles in the carnage, crack on and look like a nob to your heart's content.

It's a bit like asking about filtering on public roads. Done in the right way in the right context, no problem - done wrong, and you're into those vids on yootoob.

No problem with someone popping a wheelie away from public view on a quiet stretch of road. I do have a problem with the gang of cocks that seem to have a habit of riding around my area at the moment wheelie'ing their way through the town centres like they're all AWESOME or something.

Wheelying on a sportsbike is like flying a Spitfire painted pink. Laughing

I figure everyones gonna say it's contextual Laughing

As I was saying, it's fine, if you don't fuck them up
I think they can give riders a bad image when done around traffic, probably well fun to do though Razz

doing it purely to show off to random pedestrians on the street is a bit lame, was a guy near my work who did it 3 days in a row in the same place as I walked by him, coming out a side road through a yellow box junction, was like yeah I get it great Thumbs Up

Uhm.. my avatar.. Laughing

That was years ago though. These days I don't as I care more about my headstock bearings and c+s's. If I ever, it's a small "accelerating like crazy" from a junction that can barely be considered a wheelie, but makes me feel good inside.

A good wheelie is cool as hell though. Not worth the risk to my license personally anymore though.

Anything goes so long as no kittens get killed. Bonus points for exiting roundabouts on one wheel, offending IAM types and wheelying past Audi and BMW drivers that are being obnoxious.

Wheelying in front of a school at breaktime is stupid. Mainly because if you get caught you'll have a million people saying "Why won't anyone think of the children?"

Wheelying on a quiet deserted road? Cool I reckon.

Front raising under hard acceleration = cool
Deliberate show-off wheelie (poser) = sad

A friend of mine ended up being slapped with 3 points for "dangerous riding" after being spotted by the police popping a wheelie from some lights.
Certainly a contextual subject.

I voted cool.
I reckon the faggots that voted otherwise are the ones that are unable to get it up and are jealous of the cool-dudes that can.

The undersides of planes were sometimes painted pink as it's an effective camouflage against the sky. Razz

Pink is a surprisingly good colour for camouflage, not gay at all.

Power wheelies = cool
Show off wheelies = attention whore

beaten to it, but my link also shows pink gulf war jets...

Yes, but when you are only fighting Johhny Sandmonkey and his exploding camels, painting your A10 pink is gay.

Wheelies are fucking great. Those who say otherwise, claiming to be on a high horse, are just those who can't do them, with some kind of deep set jealousy.

Some car dicks yell at me sometimes, but I blow them kisses.

I do it now and then but only on a quite and well maintained road. I would never do it in the city. Sometimes i will do it off a roundabout on a A road though Smile

I voted contextual though cause I cant get it up for any length of time.
Once i'm more practiced, do another poll and i'll vote cool.
