Hi All,

Sorry for the boring post but could those of you in South London (and the rest of the city for that matter) keep your eyes and ears open for an Arai Force being offerred for sale or being worn by someone on a bike thate you would perhaps not expect sucha a helmet to be appropriat for.

My own fault, I stupidly chained it to my Blade at a market/car boot fair at New Covent Garden (Vauxhall) this morning, Got back to the bike- and helmet and Oxford chain both gone. Lesson learnt.

I shall scan the obvious resale sites but please do let me know if you spot anything suspicious. Have tried copying in a couple of pictures of the colour scheme.

It has some distinguishing features which will ID it for me.

Unfortunate sir, but would you really want a helmet back that had been stolen? I know I wouldn't be wearing it again...

Where is your bike now?

It is a "tactic" scrotes use.

Steal lid, owner returns, fumes, bike is left while owner goes to get new/spare lid, scrotes know owner will be gone for a while and half-inches bike.

I have seen where the brake hose is cut for the same reason.

Thanks for everyones opinions. Honestly appreciate your thoughts. Bike was moved 5 minutes later as I had spotted a decrepid helmet on a stall nearby.

As per my original post, those in the area please keep an eye out for such a helmet on your local estate. I don't meant to stereotype but not the sort of lid that your average 'ped boy' will invest in.

Please don't worry about responding to my post if you are only interested in slating me for chaining the lid to my bike. Not not really what I'm looking for and not particularly helpful. I am constantly surprised at the high percentage of unhelpful critique posters receive whenever making polite requests for assistance. Perhaps a new section of the forum should be opened up for those with such deep seated bitterness that are predominantly interested in slating other bikers.

Thanks again for the helpful nuggets though. If you spot a potential candididate for my nicked helmet please let me know.

love you, byeee

Sorry, realise my last post was a bit harsh. Think I'm just fuming a bit from the loss. Hope no offence was given.

You wont get your helmet back mate, its not like each one has its own unique identification. If you find it they won't hand it over and if you holla at the police they will laugh at you

Mine had a couple of unique identifiers (and I don;t mean just the odd scratch). I could definitely indentify it.

Lesson learned.

IF and that's a big IF you got it back, Arai offer a service of x-raying the helmet to see if it is safe to use or to be scrapped.

I had a accident where my head hit the side of a van but suprisingly the report Arai made said it was good to use still.

All you have to pay is postage.

Sounds like a vicious circle, your helmet gets nicked, you by helmet from dodgy market, your helmet for sale next week to replace one that was stolen that day.

Will keep an eye out for it though as I am in that area.

Heh, more likely someone's gone off to the boot sale to buy some tools - picked themselves up a lovely cheap set of bolt croppers and wondered how good they were Very Happy

I would of rode it home without a helmet, as its only a £30 fine if you get caught.

I think its madness when l see people chaining there helmets to the bike or using the helmet lock, Not only will it get dirty/wet but l once knew a not very nice person who pissed inside a helmet someone left chained to a scooter. Sick

Does the £30 cover you for the rest of the journey or can they pull you up 2 minutes down the road again?

Sometimes you don't want to carry it.

Most times it would be fine. Most people aren't scum. Most people won't nick it or piss in it. Life isn't much fun when you assume the worst of people 24/7.

You chain it in a fashion that it remains the right way up, so it doesn't get filled with water if it rains. It is, after all, designed to keep rain off.

A Raleigh Chopper.

Why, you about to get preciousl if i mention any motorised vehicle not being suitable for an arai. Admittedly I was making a gross generalisation in my earlier statement but i would not expect one of the scrotes from the Winstanley Estate to fork out £300 on an Arai to be worn on a £700 ped.

I knew a married couple a few years back and he was a custom helmet painter, while we were working at the ally pally someone stole her helmet from the stall we were working on, it was unique and a wedding present from him to her, it was never seen again and thousands of people new that helmet on sight.
