well. MOT time for the revere today, and she failed on the rear shock having no damping effect at all, and the front brake binding.

considering what the bike cost in the first place, it isn't really worth carrying out the work, so it looks like when I get back from my camping trip at the end of the month, i'll be looking for a new bike Thumbs Up

probably sub £1000, sports tourer would be cool, but open to suggestions. bear in mind ive only been riding for a year though Laughing

so, masses of BCF, what do you think would be my best bet for that sort of price? spanner work is not a problem really, but I would rather not get in too deep if possible.

so far the shortlist has got to Suzuki SV600, bandit, diversion (any good?) or cbr.

many thanks all,

Lee

My ZZR600 was just over £1000 so could be worth looking into

Whatever you can find. Been trawling everywhere online and struggling to find anything decent sub-£1000. Don't limit your choice, take whatever comes along.

Cheap as chips for a 100bhp sports tourer. £200 for me.

a mate of mine has just mentioned that he might be getting shot of his ZX9R. could be a step too far though?

or I may know of a good condition thunderace that would be around a grand. it does seem big and heavy though.

The one in warrington is a grand, the bronze/black one.

Grab a train to it, ride it back.

If you are over 21 or 25 years old (cant remember which) and the bike is atleast 15y/o then you can get classic insurance.
Mine was £150 FC with 50 quid excess.

Kawasaki ZZR600, Yamaha Thundercat, Yamaha FZS600, Suzuki RF600, Honda CBR600F, Suzuki SV650. All cheap to insure, all solid all rounders. Probably forgotten some.

I really wouldn't get rid of the revere over such tiddly little problems though. Would cost under £50 and a days work to fix... However they are dead boring so I can kind of understand why you won't fight to keep it.

Secondhand shock - minimum £50 posted, no guarantee that it wont fail again in fairly short order. £300 new........ front brake caliper, probably needs new seals, pistons cleaning up if not too far gone, replacing if they are. Sod all secondhand calipers knocking about for reasonable money.

Days work, yep, agree with that.

For what I would get for the bike (88k on an E plate). It is borderline worth it. Especially as it cost me very little to get it through the last MOT when i first got it. Plus, I was planning on replacing it this year anyway Wink Thumbs Up Just don't tell the wife Laughing

Could you not just spend a few hundred quid fixing your bike up or is it just a good excuse to get a new bike Smile
