Woke up at 8am to loud knocking at my door which turned out to be the police. I invited them in shitting myself thinking I must of been caught doing something silly on my bike but I couldn't think what.

Turned out that a off duty motorcycle police officer saw a taxi very nearly knock me off my bike on the way to work on April 4th by cutting me up forcing me to mount the path way and wanted me to make a statement. They asked how much I remembered and I recalled the event very well, even down to the fact the driver was in his 40's wearing a green strange looking hat.

A message was passed on to me from the motorcycle officer saying that he thought I showed very good control of my bike and temper and was a credit to motorcyclists.

I have to admit that I felt like I just got a gold star at school lol Well anyway charges are being pressed and I'll keep you guys updated as soon as I'm told more.

What a random way to start a Friday morning.

Awesome, nice to know they're doing something!

I got pulled by the police last night about 11pm. I was waiting to enter a roundabout, he comes past and gives me a very dodgy look. I enter and leave as he completes a full circulation to follow me. Moments later, the flashing blue lights behind me. I'm wondering what the problem is because I genuinely hadn't done anything bad on that ride (cold engine), maybe he saw something another day and recognised me? He gets out of the car... tells me that my lights aren't on. DOH! Doh!

He quickly asks me to demonstrate that they work then we were both on our way. Laughing

hahah so it is, feels like a friday because I have thursday and friday off this week Very Happy

Got a phone call saying they are going to arrest the driver for dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention. I cannot believe I remembered part of the number plate of the car. I knew it was a white 09 Ford. Strange what sticks in your brain.

Safe to say he isn't going to be driving a taxi for a while.

I'm glad he wasn't riding behind me when the Addison Lee driver cut me up this morning...

I presume they stopped the taxi driver there and then, or can they go back and get him later?

I am guessing they are going to arrest him and interview him? They asked me if I was willing to go to court and I said yes. I very much doubt he was stopped at the time because the officer was off duty.

I'm pretty sure he was driving a car as I cannot remember any other bikes being close by. I did take a few moments at the side of the road to get my shit together.

Lucky for me I saw what was going to happen before it happened and pulled to the left pretty quickly. I bought a new zipped hi viz the same day. Stopped using my old one because it kept opening up as I was riding.

Think of it this way, had you not put your lights on there was an increased chance a cager could have pulled out on you and a judge would put most of the blame on you. A word of advice is all it takes in many cases. Advice is something a bastard speed camera cannot do, fuckin hate them.

To OP, if a cop came to my house I would be panicking over something more serious than anything I done on a motorcycle. Police dont generally come round with good news but good to see action is being taken against a proper nuisance.

Quite, I'd rather argue the toss with a copper at the side of the road than a magistrate in a courtroom.

To be honest I was crapping my pants and I wasn't really with it as I had just woken up. Faced with two cops at my door with me just in my pj bottoms wasn't the way I thought I'd start the day. I thought it was going to be the postman.

My general view of the police is they are a little too strict on the less life threatening stuff, speeding and such.

Stuff like this where someone was a complete wang to you on the road, fair enough.

But I had a bike stolen, as did a friend. We knew where they were, we watched them ragging them round a field. I called the police as I'm not going against 20+ chavs alone with my nice shiny bike by the side of the road. They didn't come, I waited about 45 mins, they were ~1 mile away (local stations) but nope. Nothing.

In the end, bike got burnt out a few hours later. Cheers you lazy cunts Laughing

Oh yes, I know. I thanked him for letting me know. Smile The lights were definitely on when I set off maybe 1 mile ago, I must have accidentally knocked them on to sidelights only because the dashboard lights were still on; so I genuinely had no idea my main light wasn't on due to the area having good street lighting.

That is *exactly* the sort of thing they wanna know. Who does the best coffee. Who gives you the biggest portions of chips. Where to get the best value donuts Laughing The last thing they want to hear about is crime.

Update. He was arrested and charged. By the sounds if it he is saying he has no memory of the event. It is going to court and he is looking at a ban and fine the copper told me.

Is it wrong I feel a little bad knowing I could be putting someone out of work? Makes me feel sad knowing this.
