I’m doing a bike tour in June with a mate, we are travelling up to Scotland over 3 days via the east coast-ish route, then back down through central-ish England over 3 more days. I’ve got the route planned out, and would like to find some interesting bike related things to do along the way.
The route can be found at https://goo.gl/maps/ux2KJ - each point is an overnight halt. So, what’s on this route that’s of interest? I’m thinking decent biker cafes, big bike showrooms, anything that might interest your average biker. Preferably within close range of the route, but obviously the more interesting it is, the further out of our way we will go |

Living in Scotland I have to agree with Maruchino. Get to Scotland quicker and head to the West side, anywhere North of Loch Lomond and you won't go wrong.
The furthest North your current route shows is just on the verge of getting to the good bits. If you can get there quicker I would head for Braemar which will take you through Glenshee which is a great bike road. Then head for Ballater and take the road to Tomintoul which will take you over the Lecht which is another nice bike road. From there head to Aviemore then Fort William via Newtonmore. From Fort William you can head South on the A82 which will take you through Glencoe and over Rannoch Moor and down through Glen Orchy. The scenery is great and the road is superb for a bike.
Alyth to Fort William by above route is a fairly long ride on the bike but is definitely worth doing if your short of time. If your into visiting there's Balmoral and loads of other castles and stuff on Deeside. Biker friendly pubs and tea rooms all along the route but the main thing is the route!
I know it's not really what you asked but if your coming here make it worthwhile. |
