'lo bcf

well it was bound to happen eventually, riding home last night, hear little 'dink' from the engine, bike loses power, so clutch in and coast to a stop, no dramas.

got it back in the works van, compression test says 50psi. No real surprises there. Engine turns freely.

My question is, is it OK to fix the top end with the engine in situ? Getting the lump out of a TZR is a total ballache, plus I'd have the added hassle of draining and then priming the autolube malarky which is tricky.

ignore me.

Just had another look and there's no way the barrel will clear the headstock.

Fortunately it appears that I can remove the engine with the cradle and oil tank still connected.

so; checklist

tank off
carb off
zorst off
drain rad
remove hoses
gear linkage
clutch cable
PV servo doodah
HT / temp cables off
chain guard off
slacken chain, slide over front sprocket
disconnect neutral switch/ground strap/anything else
jack under engine
side bolts off
top bolt off
loosen bottom bolt
rotate engine forward / down onto jack
bottom bolt out
engine on deck

anything I missed?
ta Thumbs Up
