This might seem like complete craziness but I'm really tempted to move my speed four on and ride around on the sv650s we picked up cheap for the mrs for a year before she progresses onto it.
WHY I hear u ask, well let me explain;
In the limited riding I've done on the sv650 I just find it incredibly comfortable to ride, I trust the way it behaved underneath me, it kinda offers me the few things my speed four makes me question.
A good example is the smoothness of the ride, road riding is a combination of alot of different styles of riding, the speed four is happiest when it's completely balls out on the a roads, in town because of its fuel injection woes it's very twitchy. (Not helped by the fact I ride with aftermarket can)
The SV however breeds confident in these areas, it has to be said however that the SV finish is absolutely no where near as refined as the triumph, the triumph is truly a lovely bike to work on (not that it needs much work) and the SV has cheap parts... But horses for courses the parts for SVs are everywhere!!
Right now I'm really enjoying playing with bikes, the SV represents something I can work on without fear because its already a bit rough, where as the trumpet is mint and in a way it makes me nervous about working on it...
Am I right to be feeling this way? However u look at it an SV is a step down but I feel the above comments are just in this instance?! Would I be totally mad to sell the speed four and play with an SV for year?? |

Fit the suspension from the Triumph to the SV frame. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

Sorry I did find that funny. Triumph & good finish The SV must be terrible
I agree on the other points though, it is very snatchy and is a bit rubbish trying to pootle. You can smooth it out by tweaking the map as it has a nasty hole due to emissions regulations.
Mine is getting there but it still irritates me around the town at times. ____________________ Honda Varadero >> Triumph Speed Four >> Honda CBR1100xx |

The SV650 comes up for a bit of stick sometimes but I totally understand the appeal of the bike.
I had the SFV650 Gladius after passing my test and I absolutely loved it.
