Evening all.
The radiator on my bike its looking if I'm honest a bit past its best. So I've been looking for a cover for it to hide the worse bits and stop it getting any knocks from stones. The only two I've really found are as follows.

Option 1:
https://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Graham_Canham/grill1_zps56691a41.jpg

Option 2:
https://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p649/Graham_Canham/grill2_zpsc29604dc.jpg

Thinking of option 2 as it looks like it covers the whole of the radiator and not centre part (whatever it's called).
Price wise, option 1 is the more expensive of the two buy about £10.

Opinions or other options people know of would be gratefully received!

Option one would be better as with option two if a fair sized stone hits that it'll just bend the fins apart and possibly still twat the rad', whereas option one will have some resistance to it...

Fair point! And I suppose I shouldn't be lazy and just clean up and repaint the sides of the rad.

Stick both of them on!!!

My CBF600 radiator caught a sharp stone. Even radweld would only hold it temporarily so i spent 2 or 3 weeks hunting ebay, gumtree and uk wide bike breakers for a 2nd hand one without any luck.

No-one makes OE ones so it was a sore £250 or so to buy a replacement from Honda

Ouch

I personally prefer the look of Option 2. What brand is it by the way? First one looks like a Beowulf one?

If you get Option 2 and are worried about stones hitting the fins still as mention above, fit a "Fender Extender" - they stop a lot of crap heading towards the rad, and your downpipes! Keeps them shiney!

I swear this is a CBF trait! Mine and my friends did the same with the black paint flaking off as some kind of corrosion set in behind it. The metal was actually in good condition once rubbed down slightly though. I originally thought it had rusted!

Get some wet dry paper and some paint! Thumbs Up

I prefer the look of the second one, and I never thought about a fender extender so yeah, good call...

Fit the second and buy the extender... Thumbs Up

Did you hunt for a "Hornet" one? The 2008 CBF600 (Fuel injected models) use exactly the same part as the Hornet of that era, part number is also the same.

I'm pretty sure the older carb'd models also use the same rad as the Hornet of their era, but would have to check part numbers to confirm.

I prefer the look of the second...but it's probably not as practical as the first... Thumbs Up

Option one is chrome? If it is I'd be tempted to go with option two because cheap shit chrome always rusts - stone chips will only make it die faster.

You could always get option two and sandwich some fine-ish aluminium mesh betwixt the rad and grille to catch smaller rocks.

Fender extender is now also on my list.
The second one from a germen company called BS Motoparts and is stainless steel. The first one is from Beowulf and is also stainless steel. Thinking it might have to be option 21
And dannymassive, cheers for the tip...sure I've got some wet dry paper somewhere. As for the paint...hamerite??

Any decent paint will do the job, it'll need a good few coats though. However, if it is going to be stuck behind that rad cover then it doesn't need to look too pretty. Wink

Good point, I've got some black rattle can stuff knocking about somewhere I think. Failing that a small tin on hamerite isn't going to break the bank.
Shopping list when I get paid then:
1. Fender extender
2. Radiator cover

Thanks for everyone's views. Confirmed my own opinion! Thumbs Up

I had a carb'd 2004 model. Hornet one from that year was close but no fit Sad

Also my 2004 & 2006 CBF's both loved to warp their font discs for some reason

When I got the bike, the paint was just peeling off like paper and was oxidized to fcuk.
It was 11 years old so replaced the rad for a new one.
Annoyingly though, some stones have already made a couple of chips in the paint and the surrounding area is starting to bubble. Evil or Very Mad

I thought there was a big thread recently with issues with beowolf and a general consensus that they were best avoided?

I really think that Beowulf thread about exhausts was a one off, albeit a big own goal for Beowulf.

Other than that I haven't heard of problems with their gear, and no, I'm not related to or fellated by Miss Beowuf.
