https://i.imgur.com/USa5OOR.jpg

Just got insurance for my new bike that I'm picking up tomorrow. The insurance starts at 11.30am tomorrow. I asked for a cover note for myself and the dealer for when I inevitably get pulled as it won't be on the MID for a couple days, sent them out fine, but I noticed while looking at it, there's a bit that hasn't been signed. The rest is all fine the dates, registration plates, my details etc... But this "agent signature" thing is missing. Is this an issue?

Any advice or thoughts more than welcome.

Edit - Obviously this isn't the entire cover note just the bit on the bottom in question

Meh, I'd risk it, was sent to you right?

Why can't you just download the full certificate tomorrow at 11.30.

I don't know if RAC motorbike insurance even allow for full certificate download. They take long enough to send out cover notes to dealerships and myself etc...

The rest looks fine it's literally just this little signature missing that has me a bit worried.

I was told documents have been posted to me and that the cover note will suffice, they sent one to my dealership this morning who said it was fine, I asked for a copy just now to keep on my phone and it came down looking like this

Trading in the beloved cbf125 for a CBR 250r. Got a great deal and couldn't say no after a couple hours of test riding, will do great as my small capacity touring bike. Off to eastern Europe or even further this time come summer.

Really not wanting to ride without a proper signed cover note I don't understand this and I've already called about 5 times in the past 24 hours just trying to sort this. Tempted to pop into the cop shop and ask them if a traffic officer is about and what he makes of the cover note.

Pending the word from arry...

AFAIK, "cover note" has no legal meaning. It's either a "certificate of insurance" from the insurer (not the broker), or it is not.

If it's not, then you're not technically covered until a real certificate has been "delivered", either physically or electronically, including being available on a website.

But lawd's sake, it looks all uffishul, it tells a copper who to contact, and that pretty much scuppers them forming a reasonable belief that you're not insured.

Ride, enjoy.

You can imagine crashing a couple of hours after buying your insurance online, the police doing you for 'having no insurance' (cert not even up on a website yet), and your insurance then paying out to the third party. The police would look pretty fucking stupid, wouldn't they.

But then most of our law was made by witless fucktards.

while on the subject of the fine print, would anybody be able to clarify the meaning of the following text please:

"If you drive other vehicles, insurers may offer a discount"

does this mean "if you ARE INSURED for any other vehicles" (i.e. named on the policy of any other vehicle)?

i'm not used to doing insurance and i'm trying to minimize the chances of getting shafted just because i didn't understand the jargon that they tucked away in the middle of a 3000-word policy.

Wut? Those words taken out of context mean nothing. What are you even asking?
