On Thursday i decided that would go out on Sunday on the dirt bikes and realized my chain had 17 stiff links and my front sprocket was shark toothed causing the chain to stretch about 2-3cm every 25 miles.

So my plans were in tatters.

I then was advised by a friend to give the chap at Ducati Mondo in Halifax a call and see if he had anything to get the sprocket nut off and a chain and sprocket in stock.

Unfortunately he did not have anything in stock but ordered me a chain and sprocket and said if i was to pay him a visit he would fit it Saturday.

Turned up Saturday and he managed to get the sprocket nut off that i had been trying to get off for 6 weeks. I had tried various others garages before hand and nobody was able to get the nut off.

In the end it was a 550nm impact gun that did the job within 10 seconds.

So big thanks to Russ at Ducati Mondo in Halifax Thumbs Up Saved my weekend.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I realized over the past few months that dirt bikes aint cheap to run.

In the past 6 months i have done:-

5 oil changes
3 fliter changes
2 front tyres
4 rear tyres
3 lots of front brake pads
2 lots of rear pads
New front disc required soon
C+S changed twice (first time i bought crap chain that lasted 500 miles)
1 new clutch
1 valve clearance check
1 new hot start nut costing £17!!!! for a nut

Worth every penny though for the fun factor Very Happy

not sure?

probably 3000 miles but the bikes been spot on and the valve clearances were all in tolerance when checked last week Laughing

The front brakes are a single disc and the pads surface is really small and when you brake from high speed to low speed it just eats the pads, also the much and grit can also contribute to the wear i guess?

happy days

oh... i also changed the front caliper, air filter and grips and if i keep thinking about it quite a few more things.

On my road bikes i can do 5k pretty much without touching anything.
