Seen a couple in Auto Trader and they seem bloody good value for money, Is there anything I should be aware of before I look more seriously into them.

Learn to spell.

The bikes are pretty nippy, juicy as fuck though. Massive thumping engine and pretty sensitive throttle below 40/50mph Thumbs Up

My mate has one. Very thirsty, can be 70 miles to a tank if he's ragging it. The glorious sound and massive amount of power makes up for that though. Even with stock pipes it sounds nice and it's been dyno'd at 150bhp at the back wheel after being mapped by himself. I think they look very nice too.

Can't remember how many miles it's done but he's had a bit of trouble with batteries. I think a lot of that is down to it being a big twin with high compression and if it doesn't fire up the first time then the battery is pretty much flat, difficult to bump start too but that's also just because of it being a big twin. Don't know of him having any serious problems however.

Get one Thumbs Up

Yeah his is a 2008 or 2009. I'd say 150bhp at the back wheel is plenty Laughing

Looks pretty decent, but i've got body panels on my bike thicker than the padding on that seat. Shocked

Thirsty, fast, handle lovely and easy to work on. Feels a bit like you're in a fighter jet. Unfortunately they don't fuel welll low down and can feel a bit agricultural. Pretty cool and a bit different though.

difficult to access things you need to service, high running costs. You don't buy KTM for economy or practicality. You go orange for the grin factor, and because it is riding befok! Own a KTM, and you will dump your wife for her. It is just simply awesome Mr. Green

some people call the throttle twitchy, wakka wakka fishpaste. They just are shit scared of twisting the throttle and the bike wheelies.

I don't care how many shekels it costs to run my KTM. When I give it throttle it is off like a jewish foreskin Mr. Green and Im as happy as a pig in Palestine Mr. Green

One of the few bikes out there that makes a stock SP1 look frugal... Shocked

The gearbox wasn't great on the early ones although, not sure if KTM sorted it or just updated the later models.

looked into one last year, many of the earlier models did have fuelling issues, but the later models cleared that, also the earlier models suffered REALLY bad with false neutrals, they were happening very frequently to the majority of owners, i am led to believe that the newer bikes have rectified this issue also.

The false neutrals is something that's come up quite a lot, seems to be more an issue with moving down the box than up, as its a bit rough apparently...

Load of bollocks, just because one bike went bad doesn't mean they're all shit - plus its a brand new bike so the owner will get a replacement from KTM.

I wouldn't let something like that affect the decision. Its the tiny foam seat and the seriously shocking MPG figures that would stop me getting one.

If you've got the money though (and an iron arse) then they seem a pretty damn good choice.
