This has been bugging me for a while....

The GSXR has vibrations around 4-5k, they're not the most pleasant, but they're not hand-numbing like some bikes (Skyjet to name one).

When I get to 6,000 rpm that's when it starts to smooth out and above. Obviously around 13,000 it's vibrating but you'd expect that, and it still doesn't feel as heavy as the ones lower down.

Definitely engine vibrations as they stop when the clutch is pulled in. I realise when you're sat on a bike you can expect vibrations as it's an engine attached to a metal frame.

It's a '98 bike so I don't expect it to be as smooth as the CBF1000 I rode. Just wondering if this seems normal or not.

Do you have aftermarket bar ends on?

GSXR's do suffer with vibes, but ones without the weighted bar ends feel worse.

All inline 4's seem to have this vibration zone, 'blade is silky smooth except for this specific rev area, so you are not alone!

Interesting you should say this, I was just reading about throttle body synchronisation (didn't know you could sync them) and then remembered this thread.

Never in my ownership. I'll have to look into doing that. The idle is a little lumpy too. The needle moves ever so slightly around 1200 rpm. I'm guessing that would help as well. (I know the plugs are less than 500 miles old and the filter has been cleaned around the same time).

Whaddya reckon? Worth doing anyway I suppose!

Think it has standard bar ends on. It's very smooth at higher rpm and lower rpm.

It's worth doing. A set of gauges is cheap enough.

What can I expect to see after a successful synchronisation? (providing they were badly out of sync before).

What will I notice as a rider, smoother idle? Will the tone of the engine change slightly? Gonna try get it done this Friday.

My ZX6R used to buzz quite uncomfortably through the footpegs at around 7000rpm, and yeah it felt annoying but you learn to ride around it, and try not to spend long periods at a constant rpm in the vibey zone.
