But been without a steed since last summer.

Just acquired myself a shiny red Honda VTR1000 FireStorm and the grin has returned to my face Twisted Evil

How I've missed nodding to my fellow bikers Embarassed

Does this count as my first 'Big'-'Big' bike? Rolling Eyes

This thread is useless without pics... Laughing

Seriously though I know how you feel, I've been bikeless for almost a year and a half now, just sent off my re-application form to DVLA so hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be out and about on my new steed.

I'm almost as excited as I was on the day of my CBT. Shocked

Arrrgghh! The dreaded 'bus' - vehicle of the damned. I'd rather commute by roping my lower intestine around the wing mirror of a Nissan Micra and get scraped slowly along the tarmac than catch one of these things. Twisted Evil

I feel for you, I really do! Not long to go now though eh?!

Great bikes the Firestorm. Not that I am biased or anything, having owned mine for over 2 years now.

Nearly vomited from the stink from a couple of old wifies in front of me today. Where do they buy their perfume from? ICI? And the cost! i've already spent twice as much on tickets than I would have spent on fuel.

From your own experience, is there anything I should look out for Pinky? I've read enough about the CCTs to make my eyes bleed!

Sent you a pm with link to the VTR forum.

CCTs are an issue with Hondas and especially the Storm. Regulator/rectifier is another issue depending on model. Check yours, it can be found under the plastic beside the seat on the right side as you sit on the bike. If it has cooling fins it'll be fine, if it is a flat model then a precaution is to change it as they have a tendancy to overheat and fry the battery.

Some change them for R1 model units, takes a bit of bodging but a simple job. You'll know if it has an R1 unit fitted as its fkin huge!

Other than that, the usual. Keep it serviced and you'll have no problems with it. She has plenty of character, she'll pop, burp, the airbox will thud and fart at times scaring the jeebes out of you but its all part of the charm.

Hi mate....did you get your storm from a guy in Caernarfon (ebay few weeks ago) i was looking at that one and it looks real nice. I sold your old SV and have just bought a project fireblade which will be on the road very soon!

Also my son(was with me when we picked up your SV) has just passed his test and has bought a curvy SV. Maybe meet up at betws sometime if you like?

I have had two storms....get the cct's changed for manual ones as they went on both mine. If you need someone to do them i have plenty of experience at stripping storms down. You can also do the stopper mod so if they do fail they don't knacker your engine up, i did that on my first one after the original cct's failed! Get over to vtr.org for loads of info.
