At the point of impact the rider was near enough on the white line himself. Yes the car was straddling the white lines but I would have been a little more over to the left going in to right hand bend to get a better view of the road ahead.

Even if you want to ride that far toward the centre of the road I would have given up my position. Flesh & Bone vs Metal cage = only one winner!! Thumbs Up

I had similar happen to me. I was in the same positon as the rider in the video. ( Except a bit further off the white line)

The car overtook a cyclist coming round the corner, so was fully in my lane. At 50mph there isnt anywhere for you to go other than to throw it at the scenery and hope.

I clattered down the side of the car, peeling it open like a tin, but managed to stay on, with only my left leg working. ( left shoulder disloated from the bars digging into the car, right leg was compressed between the car and my tank and my right wrist was ruined.)

He didnt stop either.

This. Doesn't mean the car driver was innocent though, but I personally don't go towards the center of the road if I can't see around the bend. For this reason.

Driver of DS11 FFM needs to be arrested - if not for straddling the double white lines, then for wearing that hideous purple Adidas tracksuit top...

Behave Irn, his positioning was shit, he was tipping into the oncoming lane regardless if his wheels stay in the correct lane. He got lucky on that thankfully and ill bet his positioning improves because of it.

Car and bike at fault, car was marginally over too far, but so was the bike, right hand bend, move to the left for maximum view.

Got away with it though

Wow, I bet the driver was shitting himself getting chased down by a group of bikers Laughing I'm glad they didn't get away though, I think I'd spend my days trying to track them down haha.

I can't believe you thought to put the bike on it's side stand! the things we do when in shock eh!

+1, have always thought to ride like this, in the CBT I remember being taught to consider road position.
Be prominent and be seen is the first rule, when it comes to cornering, sweep in wide to give yourself a wide field of view and so that you are clear of any hazards oncoming or sharing your lane, ie cyclists or walkers (They can be anywhere).
Common sense no?
The one time I remember flouting this rule, I came rather uncomfortably close to an oncoming camper. Embarassed
