Hi,

I'm new to the forum but many of the posts have been a great guide for a while. Now I find myself in need of direct advice if anyone can help. I have a Peugeot Speedfight2 100 on a 2006 plate.

After a winter off the road, my Speedfight2 100 had a dead battery. After a new battery, it wouldn't start, thanks to a CDI issue. I fixed that with a bypass today, following advice I read on BCF, and it seemed to work. I was on a road test when I could hear a whining sound from the engine and it was under power. Before I made it home, the engine stopped suddenly.

Now I have recovered the bike it will not start and the motor doesn't even turn over. The kick-start is jammed and I am pretty concerned that the engine has seized.

There was plenty of oil and petrol.....

Any ideas or help gratefully received.

Keep up the good work

Cheers

Dom

Take the transmission cover off and if you're lucky you will find the belt has snapped and jammed the mechanism.

Bringing back the nasty memories of my 60mph back wheel lock up on a speedshite 100 many years ago. It's the nearest i ever got to a Mad Max Goose impersination.

I don't do belt drives anymore! Laughing

Worst moped I've owned by far was a 100cc speedfight 2, wouldn't start without a manual choke. Bike just fell apart as I tried repairing it, I went through about 3 different kick start springs and cogs in a year.

Simple engine to strip and rebuild though, my blind guess would be a blockage somewhere in the 2t oil line, which has possibly caused piston/ring damage.

remove the left casing and the spark plug, stick a spanner/socket, on the nut on the end of the crank and see if you can turn the engine over, ignition off!
