Hi, I am now in a dilemma.
I am about to take my test and if I pass I would like to change up from the 125, as anyone would that's the whole point.
So for the last year I have been dreaming of riding the streets on a Custom (like a Suzuki Intruder or the Yamaha Midnight, you get the idea). BUT now I've seen the Triumph Tiger and for some reason think its awesome.
I'm fairly tall, 6'2" so wouldn't mind a taller bike as I am wondering if being hunched over on the Cruiser might do my back in.

ideas? Other things to take in consideration?

A man with taste Thumbs Up

Big adventure bikes are for tall people (or people with long legs) and they are so comfy it's untrue.

The small amount of cruisers I have ridden I have found fine for a while, but then my back starts hurting. The exception was a Yammy with a riders backrest, that was really comfortable.

The riding position on the adventure bikes is just so natural. The only bike more comfortable I have owned was a GoldWing.

Same reason that your voice just dropped and you've developed a sudden interest in girls.

What Bendy said, less dream, moar try. I wish I'd taken a longer ride on my minicruiser before I bought it. It's fun, but only in short doses when you're not in any hurry.

OK, as new to this I might be sounding a little naive but how do you get to ride different bikes? Can you go to the dealers and ask for test rides the same as you can with cars? The difference being that with cars a member of the dealership can sit in with you to make sure you dont nik it.
I would have a go on other peoples bikes but I know only one other person with a bike at the moment and most people wouldn't let a stranger ride their bike

It's more difficult with bikes. Usually you have to have had a full license over a year. The excess if you drop the demo is horrendous, I've seen £3000 excess on a Pinigale Shocked .

However my missus walked into GW's when that was going and blagged a ride on a Gladius with just her pink bit of the license so who knows what they will want.

You just have to ask - some dealers will, some won't.

You may also need to be a bit creative - they may have a demonstrator for a new model, so ride that and shut up about the fact that you'd actually be looking second hand and private.

Even just sitting on stuff can help, some will feel right and some will feel wrong.

With your height you could easily match with almost any bike especially ones designed for off/on road versions that have their seat heights much higher than normal road bikes!

Here's a list of bikes reviewed on visordown website

You can have a sit on loads of bikes and no-one will bat an eye, and it will tell you certain amount about the ergonomics. There will be some bikes you sit on and you'll immediately just think "no". And there will be others and as soon as you sit on the bike, you chuck your arms out and your hands just land on the grips. You lift up your feet (not advisable unless someone is keeping it upright...) and they're straight on the pegs. Everything just feels natural. If you want to be comfy, buy that one.

Once you've got it down to 2 or 3, try to blag a test ride. Worst they can say is no.

I went to see a Firestorm at a dealer with a mate. He had the money burning a hole in his pocket, the bike came up fairly close to home for a decent price. So we went down there, checked it over, seemed to all be as it should be. Last thing, he wants a test ride just to make sure everything is kosher. My mate's been riding since he was 12, had a license for 10 years, and is a professional bike mechanic. So we go and speak to the bloke, who give us a look like we've suggested he let us have a go on his wife, and tells us "maybe we can arrange something in a few days time..." My mate was intending on buying the bike then and there. We left and didn't go back. Bike dealers. Rolling Eyes
