OK so I purchased another bike. My current insurance for the Firestorm runs out in July and I will then have 5 years no claims. The Firestorm needs a bit of work done to it so I need to keep it insured until the parts arrive and I can get it to the garage.

I should be picking up the new bike within the next 10 days or so. So my question is.

If I do not have the bike parts and the Firestorm fixed by the time I get the new bike can I take out a separate insurance policy out for the other bike? If so where does that leave my NCB? Does it stay at 4 years for another year?

Of course should the bits arrive and I get the bike fixed for sale then it will just be a case of swapping the policy to the new bike.

I'm not sure whether you would be able to use the NCB for a second vehicle if it is already being used on the first. Your best bet would be to ring your insurer, as some do, some don't.

NCB can only be used on 1 bike at a time.

When I got the ZX7R I changed the FZ6 insurance to a multibike policy. Cant exactly remember what it cost to add but it was deffo a lot less than a whole new policy.

Cheers for that. Will call the guys I am with then and see what they say. I only need to keep the Storm insured to get it to the garage and back, after that I can store her off road around the back until shes sold and cancel the insurance on it which runs out in June anyways. So will call them about putting the new bike on the policy for the last month or so of the insurance then renew when it runs out.

Much appreciated.
