well the carsb on the 400 just decided to take a crap. i got them sorta of working correctly. I managed to get some GK76a carbs however they dont quite fit, i will need to jack them off the back of the head by about 80mm. is this gonna be too far, i can have aluminium intake extenders made without too much issue.

so to recap - will 80mm carb jack off too far when combined with pod filters. the bike will be used daily.

There's no way in hell 76a carbs will work on a Bandit 400 engine. They might look the same, but the engines and carbs are totally different.

If they were gk73 or 71 it might be slightly closer, but even then it's a gamble whether you'd ever get the fuelling right.

yeh they are different, but in theory there is no reason why they wouldn't.

i am gonna have to keep an eye out for a spare set of carbs for the gk75 but they are pretty thin on the ground

done a few times, as it my only form of transport i cant afford the thing to be off the road while i wait for a ultra sonic clean (altho that may have to happen)

and second to that, they are very heavily worn and finding a parts suppler for them is proving more tricky than i hoped

heres a pic of the needle from number one

this isnt the first time that i have had issues with these, and more accuratly number 1 carb. even after ballancing a slight rev and then drop to a normal idle (balacning done at 1900 -/+) the vacuum varies quite a bit. there are no air leaks either.

at the moment i can only use a small area of the thottle as too much means it drop to 3 or 2 and to little means it drops to 3. diaphrams are fine . there are a few things that i need to check but the seels under the white slide guides are new so they are no the the issue
