Hi, I'm new to the forum..

I've been riding a Transalp for the past 8 years (mainly city rides), which I'm keeping...

Finally decided to ride to work every day, which means around 190 km every day, mainly on the highway..

As such, I'm contemplating a new bike... The main contenders are the new Yamaha FJR and the new Honda crosstourer...

Any inputs would be mostly welcome. Any thoughts on economy, riding, wind protection (I'm 1.92m), etc?

Any other sugestions??

Thank you in advance!

Victor

Why not use the transalp? Should be good at that sort of thing. If you've got knobblies on it, a second set of wheel with road tyres will give you everything at a fraction of the cost.

Nothing against the transalp with the exception of bike's against the transalp, with maybe the exception of bike's age and condition, wind protection, etc..

The idea also is a few longer trips on the weekend and vaciations, with greater paylod, etc...

Commuter type bikes there's the Deauville that'll also meet requirement for weekend touring. Different to the transalp and not sporty though.

If sporty required then Honda VFR would be the way to go. Get hard luggage so you can commute/tour. When at destination take it off and play. To do that in a less sporty way there's Honda's ST1100/ST1300 option. Although if you're looking at the crosstourer you've probably rejected that.

IMO similar in style to the crosstourer I'd have a look at the Suzuki VStrom both in 650 and 1000 form (DL650/DL1000).
