I was wanting to know what the cordura jeans are like. I'm told Hein Gericke do a pair that look like normal jeans but can have their flexible armour. Anyone tried these?

You could get 'summer' leathers, mine for example have lots of small holes strategically around the suit.

Use those suits made from airtex. They're not as nice as leathers, but are better in this weather.

I was really really naughty today and rode to work in my jeans and a jacket. I wore my gloves back protector and boots. But boy did I feel vunerable! Kept the speed below 50mph all the way there and back. I just could not take wearing my leathers today and had made a concious decision to ride slow.

I know, I know it was wrong and stupid.

I wear jeans when its extremely hot.
I know the consequences of not wearing leathers, Ive had my fair share of accidents, I know how the road can hurt, but I am an adult and can make up my own mind and will do so.

I do however, always wear gloves, boots and a jacket.

I wear leather in the Summer and armoured over-trousers in the Winter. Yes it gets hot but I'd rather be hot than cold from blood loss!

For minimoto racing we have cordura type suits for flexibility reinforced with leather round all the bits that get abused in stacks. Much cooler than full leathers when it hot but still quite protective. Thumbs Up

I trust you've got private health insurance then, so when your gravel rash is being treated, you're not using NHS money?

i saw a bloke on the m'way doing about 110 on an R1 in shorts and a t-shirt.

Ive noticed people dont tend to nod if your not in at least jacket and jeans, which i think is wrong because true its safer to wear full gear, but i find it does kill the whole point of riding, especially if your just going down the road to work, and you have no where safe to store your leather goodies. I always tend to ride with boots, gloves jeans and jacket if im going for it down the A507 or something like that, basically anything with fast bends or fast roads with possible slow cars/vans. But i just cant deal with the discomfort. Some bloke turned up down the pub on his battered t'cat the other day in full leathers, boots, gloves everything. He worked 5 minutes away, and lived like a minute away. Surely for the inconvenience.... Jeans and jacket would have sufficed.

A high proportion of accidents happen within a mile of home, and I still have a scar from gravel rash from a 15mph off 13 years ago ( I was wearing jeans at the time)
I always wear leathers or textile trousers with armour.

How does the textile compare to leathers in terms of saftey, I am thinking of hanging the leathers up for cooler days and wearing textile clothing.

Go read TC's bit in the thread in New Bikers - pretty much everything you need to know about the differences.

I'd link if I could be arsed. Smile

Ditto, 15 mph 30 yards from my house with jeans on, just over a week ago.

Won't be making that mistake again!!

Slavo, not meaning to be morbid here, but what sort of damage happened to you?

I guess with leathers the only thing you would have had is scuffed leathers....

I received gravel rashed knees, right one is worse. Heavy abrasions to the side and the top of it. Also abrasions to my right upper thigh.

Nothing life threatening, but was very slow speed!

I have managed to make one smaller to fit within the filesize limit. This is just above my right knee.
