Well once again, the side panel blew off my Arai, shortly followed by the visor Confused . Visor was £60 last time and was clear, not iridium or anything, Side panels were like £20 for 3, but i've used all 3 Mad .

It was getting a bit too big for me anyway, looking at something like an OGK aeroblade, most because i like the look.

Anyone reccomend these Question

What are they usually priced at Question

Do places like Hein Gericke sell them Question

I've heard there quite noisy, but i wear earplugs (unfaired bike) most of the time, so it shouldn't matter.

Any help would be appreciated Very Happy .

I have had one for a while now.

They are ok, i'm sorry i didn't save up a little more and get an arai though..

I have a head set in my lid for an autocom an they don't half hurt my ears after a while.

I wouldn't say it was a noisy lid, even on my Hornet.

The ogk I had before my xr1000 was the noisiest lid I have owned, so I would really suggest earplugs. For 100 notes Its a good lid, and I still use mine as my normal riding lid
<---------------

the tear offs are good and legal and you can get different tints and stuff.

I have an OGK Aeroblade, got mine from J&S for about £90 a year ago.

It's my first helmet so I cannot compare it to anything else, I brought it because it was the best fitting helmet I could find under £150.

I have found had few issues

the visor is really difficult to get out, in fact i snapped a bit off the clip on the side at one point.

The side panel now does occasionaly come loose but has not fallen off yet.
I have also notice the neck insert is splitting (the vinyl on bottom) and now when i'm riding I can hear it flapping !! (hope that makes sence) Could be due to the fact i used it right through the winter,
I'm sure i can get some new inserts.

Some people have said it's noisy with all the vents but I have not been able to compare it against anything else. I do find it nice with all the vents open. and never had any leakage.

I like the styling (I have silver one) with photosensitive fog city style visor insert (£17 from J&S) which works well.

Some reviews;

https://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/ogk/ff4/
https://www.dooyoo.co.uk/motors/misc_motorcycle_accessories/ogk_aeroblade/_review/362285/

I like it but find the visor mechanism a bit naff, but maybe their all like it ?

hope that helps.

Sounds to me like the ADSIS white plastic thingy needs to be replaced. You could always buy a new part and it would cost you less than replacing the helmet, even if you bought new cheek pads too.

Only a thought.

It's an Arai Giga2, i got from the NEC cheap a few years ago, i can get an OGK for £79, a new visor for the Arai is £60, side panel £20, Adsis £?, cheekpads £?.

Do you think its worth it?

£6 for the ADSIS plate and £32 each for the cheek pads. Depends if it's a decent lid and if you think it's worth keeping? I've always found my Arai's to be very good.

www.thevisorshop.com

Edit - They do a clear non Arai visor for £28 or an Arai for £40.

Me and my mates have had around 5 between us. They're good comfy lids and I had one for over two years.
I loved the fact they used tear-off's - much cheaper than dark visors and quite a lot easier to carry around...and legal.

If so, they make you look like a twat. Very Happy

/me ignores bendy... Razz

Aeroblades are alright, but they are cheap for a reason, its very loud and heavy, vents don't work, I snapped the visor mechanism and a few other bits, but they protect well and are comfortable.

I've decided mines too loud though and am going to try a shoei, me wants the kagayama rep (drool)

https://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=944

Anyway, they look quite cool Wink honest Razz

You know you can get thicker cheekpads than the standard one?

I'm sure I paid about 25 quid for a pair from Hein Gericke

I never had a problem with the visor things breaking but the top vent slider will come off if you drop it.
The vents were pretty good in my opinion - better than my current KBC VR-7.

As for the thing at the back, most people thought it looked cool and not just plain old helmet shaped. It's meant to improve it's stability if you believe the hype.

I bought natasha an airblade 2 cost me around £160, she hasn't complained about it, its easy enough to clean...altho the airfilter could be better desighned as its a right arse to get back in position after removal, she says the vents work well, and the cheek pads are nice and snug, altho there uncomfortable at first.
