Does a bike without a gasket where the linkpipe and downpipe meet accelerate faster than when having one in?

The reason I ask: on the way to a place having a gasket fitted, the cbr wheelied at the top of the rev range in first. After having the gasket fitted (and the system fitted properly, I might add), it just wouldn't do that on the way home. It definitely seemed slower, and a few times on the motorway there seemed to be a slight loss of power around 7/8k mark.

So, what's up with it? Does having a gasket fitted really make the difference? What about that little bit of power loss I felt?

There are plenty of things that will affect the power across a day - air density, humidity, different fuel etc.

Fitting a gasket on the linkpipe isn't very high on the list of power-sappers, and it'll likely go down, not up if it's blowing.

As for 'feeling a slight loss of power' - the only way to know is stick it on a dyno. You won't notice a few hp on a CBR600.

Although I've only been out on it once since I got the gasket put in a few days back, if I still feel that noticable difference about 90mph, how much does it cost to have a dyno run and get it checked out?

Just making sure... it certainly felt slower and the fact that it didn't wheelie at all at the top of the rev range in first after having the gasket fitted was a real teller. Time will tell if it was humidity or fuel I guess.
