I'm thinking of visiting the Auschwitz camp before the end of May and I was wondering if anybody has been there before and could offer their experiences?

I want to go and see this place for myself.

I'm not interested about the fat fucks who died after eating a 99p cheezburger, rather the fat fucks who ran the camp.

I ve been there. It is like the vatican of the holy hoax religion, complete with wailing jews draped in israeli flags trying to convince you murders happened there at this dormitory for a huge industrial complex.

Auschwitz itself is small. You can walk over to birkenau where there is less jew pomp and display. Look at it with an engineers eye and you will about burst out laughing at the sheer fantasy of die juden's claims. They won't take kindly when you ask why didn't the russians at least fit gas tight doors to the phony gas chambers they built after the war.

What I found far more interesting is krakow, with interesting castles and historical buildings. And also the salt mines.

Wow. See now that's really going to test your guys here who're all like "Yeah shut up about Kradmelder...you fucking politically correct saps should realise where this guy is from and the culture he is living in, and also, blah blah blah...refreshing frankness...fresh testosterone...'bout time someone showed these pantywaste IT nerds...darkies...women...jews...ETC..."

Oooh yeah - this'll test 'em. Should be worth watching the squirms and the sheer avoidance from here on in. Nice work dude.

I'll play just for fun.

As we are all aware figures about the holocaust seem to have been exaggerated but what cannot be denied is that a serious loss of life happened there.

I went there as a young child and it has left a lasting impression on me and the only way I can describe it is imagine the place in black and white. Everything felt cold, everything seemed to have the colour drained from the place. I just wanted to leave.

Now I was not aware of the figures involved there but as a kid I knew it was a place where bad things have happened.

Perhaps the death toll was not as high as claims started making but I dare say the amount of deaths is still a staggering number. The death toll was cut from 4 million deaths during the holocaust down to 1.1 million. Whether thats true or not is always going to be in debate but even if 100,000 people died in Auschwitz its still a staggering and sickening amount.

If you dont believe the lasting memories of a kid then by all means go and make your own mind up. I'd love to go back as an adult and see if I feel the same way as I did.

Haven't been to Auschwitz, but I have been to Treblinka once.

They had a gallery of sorts set up in one of the barracks with pictures, some history info and some of the tools, uniforms and such that were used in the place. Got to walk into a gas chamber too.

Pretty cool place overall if you're interested in having a walk around.
I imagine Auschwitz wouldn't be much different.

I agree, regardless of whether there was en-mass gassings or not, obviously an awful lot of human suffering occurred there, even just taking into regard the concentration camp part of history.

It must be fucking shit to be held in captivity like an animal, with all the risks like cholera and typhus that run riot with so many people cramped so close.

I've been,

We stayed in Krakow (pronounced Krakov) and saved a fair amount by just getting the regular service bus there (take water, snacks and something to read, tis a long journey)

Auschwitz was originally a barracks converted to a labour camp where criminals, undesirables and political criminals were sent out of the way, it soon filled up. It also had a firing squad range (windows blocked up each side of a small courtyard) It has been set up as a bit of a museum to show the start of what happened to people that didn't agree with the Nazi ideal, piles of luggage, shoes and hair as people were stripped of their identity upon entering.

Auschwitz-Berkenau is accessed either by a short walk or free bus. This is what people think of when you say Auschwitz (other than the 'work will set you free' gateway of the ex-barracks) The gatehouse, the railway lines stretching down the centre, the ruins of the gas chambers and the endless sea of ruins of huts.

As has already been said, even if you don't believe that the Holocaust happened (think that's an argument for another thread) many many people were killed their, either through being worked to death, or just killed as of no conceivable use for doing hard labour, it's an interesting experience and shows what can happen when a world leader decides he's above all possible reprisal and accountability and then acts accordingly.

I'll also recommend the cycle tour of Krakow, you pay a little bit extra to hire a bike from the bike shop south of the square and get taken on a short guided cycle tour of the city including Schindler's factory, the Jewish Ghetto, the square where the trains for the concentration camps were loaded etc as well as other parts of the city.

You're way out of line man.

You're a helpless racist too.

What happened in these 'camps' involved more peoples than Jews you belligerent fucker.

Let's see how Whitey gets on when the Darkies 'really' turn on Anti-Aparthied.

I've been to Oswiecim. That's the Polish name.

It's a strange place, and at the height of summer (when I went) it was hard to understand what those poor gits went through.

There's a few buildings repaired showing where they slept, 3 or 4 high bunkbeds wide enough to fit 3 or 4 on with a squeeze but I'd bet more got plonked in, in the winter of minus whatever temperatures with their wood burning stoves they never got fuel for.

Take your time to read stuff. There's not much original stuff there, Ze Germans supposedly shelled it to hide all the evidence but there's a couple of gas chambers you can clearly see, the buildings outlines that is.

It was a good thing to see in the same way that Hitler was a good example of a war criminal

Slough isn't too bad, Croydon on the other hand now there is a place that deserves to have a wall built around it and then filled with water, preferably sea water as it will get the lefties to shut the fuck up about their sea levels rising.

Look I have fixed the problem, not only have I wiped Croydon off the face of the world, we have solved the rising flood waters that will kill us all yada yada, and when we drain it out, we will have bloody good soil and a nice new green space.

Same goes for Fishguard as well.

Quote:
In a dramatic and unprecedented videotaped interview, Dr. Franciszek Piper, senior curator and director of archives of the Auschwitz State Museum admitted on camera that 'Krema 1,' the alleged 'homicidal gas chamber' shown off to hundreds of thousands of tourists every year at the Auschwitz main camp, was, in fact, fabricated after the war by the Soviet Union -apparently on the direct orders of Josef Stalin. What Piper said - in effect and on camera - was that the explosive 1988 Leuchter Report was correct: no homicidal gassings took place in the buildings designated as 'homicidal gas chambers' at Auschwitz. With this admission by none other than the respected head of the Auschwitz State Museum, one of the most sacred 'facts' of history has been destroyed. This 'gas chamber' is the major historical 'fact' on which much of the foreign and domestic policies of all Western nations since WWII are based.

Israeli Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer said in 1989 that it is finally time to acknowledge that the familiar four million figure is a deliberate myth. In July 1990 the Auschwitz State Museum in Poland, along with Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust Center, announced that altogether perhaps one million people (both Jews and non-Jews) died there. Neither institution would say how many of these people were killed, and no estimates were given for the numbers of those supposedly gassed.

Each year for decades, tens of thousands of visitors to Auschwitz have been shown an execution "gas chamber" in the main camp, supposedly in its "original state." In January 1995 the prestigious French weekly magazine L'Express acknowledged that "everything" about this "gas chamber" is "false," and that it is in fact a deceitful postwar reconstruction

Jewish scholar Arno Mayer, a professor of history at Princeton University, acknowledges in his 1988 book about the "final solution" that more Jews perished at Auschwitz as a result of typhus and other "natural" causes than were executed.
