Hi all
I'm currently slowly going through servicing my 2005 ZX6R.
Going by the service schedule my spark plugs are due for replacement, but the bike hasn't any problems running or starting what so ever and is as smooth as its ever been, so I was just wondering if I really need to replace the plugs, or should I at least inspect them and depending on their visual condition replace them irrelevant of the bike seeming to be okay at the moment.
The bikes done 17k miles, and i THINK it might even be the original plugs I can't remember if they were done on one of the earlier services when I was using garages...
Thanks again everyone |

Thanks for the tip. I've been a bit unsure about iridiums but i'm inclined to go for them to be honest as a lot of people I know swear by them.
But a fair amount of people i've spoke to also insist they're a load of nonsense and to stick with the bog-standard OEM ones
Can never get a universal opinion from bikers i suppose |

I think the main argument is whether they give better performance and fuel efficiency. Have to say I haven't noticed a difference on either point.
The facts are Iridium is stronger and has a higher melting point so based on that they should last longer. Had a look at mine after 15k and they looked good. Popped them back in. Always worth having a look if only to see each one is the correct colour. i.e not sooty or white. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Yeah that was the consensus I was getting from the iridium-haters .
Like you say though if nothing but a lower replacement rate, for the price difference i'll still probably go for the iridiums i think.
I'm not too fussed or expectant of getting a rocket-boost from them to be honest |
