hello Embarassed I was riding my tuono rs 125 home from work ive got to admit it was raining all day. I found it abit tough to start I had choke on and it took about 10 seconds with me holding the starter button in. I thought that it seemed abit odd Sad but when I was driving it seemed to blog and not rev and pick up as quick but I got to the lights outside work I was changing down and it just blogged and cut out (the only way I can explain it was it was like it had water in the petrol or the fuel tap was turned off)

I tried to start it normally just thinking it was a little bit of water but it just kept tuning over so I had to put the choke on and rev it abit to make it run

it cut out about 9 times and when I went round a corner it did the same and backfired Sad don't know if this wound shine any light into the problem

today ive taken the tank off and sprayed the electric connecters with some wd40 and checked for a spark and im getting a bright blue one

just wondering if anyone could advise me and tell me what steps you would take

thanks a lot for reading this and helping a fellow biker Smile

So is it working ok now?

Could have been the spark plug holes filling with water, I don't know how they are positioned on that bike.

Quite likely water somewhere. The backfire though, is a sign of too rich a fuel mix, so it's either completely unrelated, or it's nothing to do with the rain. If it was the rain, it should have dried out in 12 to 24 hours, if there was no further rain of course.

hi,
touno has rotax 122 engine, so has same problems/issues as most rs's.
but does it have the original air filter? or has it been replaced with a cone type?
that engine doesnt like open air filters.
check it anyway, see if it has a pool of water or oil at bottom of airbox.
then check compression. (like you should be doing regularly anyway) & change spark plug & clean all electrical plugs/connectors/loose wires etc with contact cleaner & tape up.
cheers,
GAZ

thanks everyone for quick replys ive just been over too the bike and it starts but it seems abit rought but it wont idle what so ever I got to keep the throttle open abit to keep the bike running

its been about 3 days I would of thought that it would of dried out by now Sad seems like something major and I looked in the air box and took some photos there was a orange liquid in the bottom of the air box (ive cleaned it all out and put it back together and its made no difference)

ive cleaned the power valve and put it back in place

ive taken off the exhaust and made sure there are no blockages inside it

ive just order a br9 irdium plug so im hoping I could do a plug chopp when it gets delved

but im getting stuck for ideas

I bought a compression tester but when I connected it up it gives no reading don't know if its a faulty one

thanks a lot everyone

just been over today and put everything back together and I took the tank off and ran it without any fuel going to it so it used what was left in the float bowl and tube going down the I connected the tank up and its running perfect

it idles at 1000 like it did before and it seems perfect ive just tweaked the idle to 1250 to be on the safe side

ill give it a run out tomorrow and lets hope for the best

the only think that I noticed was that the kickstand light is no longer working just wondering if this could of been the reason getting water inside the connection and shorting it out

thanks alot

will report what happens tomorrow when I give it a ride

Jamie

Cold on choke the idle should be around 1750-2000

Warm after a run the idle should be around 1400

hi,
your wasting your money on iridium plugs.
last time i checked they were about a tenner each, whereas a standard plugs about 3 quid.
iridium plugs dont like 2 strokes , especially ones that arent 100% set up correctly. once fouled they're f*cked.
if your air filter has a foam insert, clean it with soapy water. rinse & dry. then lightly oil it BUT before you re-fit it, see how the bike starts & idles without the foam panel.... & clean air-box at same time.
oh & by pass the side stand switch until you have it replaced/repaired,
cheers,
GAZ
