Can anyone explain to me exactly what this means? Need to be cautious? The bike is being sold from a dealer and has had full service and MOT.

Cat D is damaged repairable, it was "written off" du to the insurance company finding that it was not viable to repair it.

It can easily but put on the road however it will have to pass a safety check and be re-MOT'd.

Mainly Cat D is used for Cosmetic damage and stolen recovered's.

be careful though, stolen recoverd often means that the ignition or electrics are fucked from when its been stolen. Can be more expensive to fix than you may expect.

How does stolen/recovered work. And are there some good deals to be had. Or are they not stupid, and you end up getting the machine for private sale price?

Stolen recovered means that the bike has obviosly been stolen but so much time has passed the insurance company has settled with the owner and disposes of the bike.

Many Stolen recovered bikes just need re-registering and any look damage sorted, but some do have damage etc.

However if the Identity of the bike is unknown/changed/ringed. it would be Cat A'd and crushed.

They have loads on BikeTrader, theres a Place up north called Cheshire MotorCycle Salvage (abit far I know) but they do have some decent deals.

Just have a scoot on biketrader and you'll find breakers offering damaged repairables. Smile
