Anyone been?

My local bike club is organising an event there, with 12 places.

What's it like, anyone know?

I've put my name down anyway.

So it is, I recognise that Smile.

Did that do any teaching on how not to be a wimp on the fast car-rally style fire roads on the edge of hills? Embarassed

The instructor can ride a Tenere along there at 85. Shocked

erm, I was a wimp, I often took easier routes to my friends, I found some of the downhill bits a bit scary monsters Embarassed

What bikes did you get?

I was absolutely loving 'blasting' (well, relative to me) down the moderately technical bits, but I was on a KTM144SX converted XC spec - basically a motocross bike with lights, with a listed weight under 100kg. Felt not far off a mountain bike compared to something like a DRZ!

I was pretty much maxing the 144 out in a couple of places, but not where it mattered on the bendy bits Sad.

mostly we had WR250's a couple of people had WR450's and there were some swaps made at lunchtime, and a few short arses had something else, a 230cc thing?

I liked this school, as they didn't patronise or make you feel stupid if you were too far out of your comfort zone, the instructor just doubled back and took me a different route a couple of times.

I never fell off though, everyone else did, multiple times. Laughing

learned that I was standing wrong, bending my legs too much, trying to compensate for being so tall by standing in the wrong position or something.

Tut Tut - must try harder next time!

WR250F's or R's?

Oh and bar risers for your own bike if you're quite tall Smile.

they were F's I believe.

Yeah, I might need bar risers on my Honda, don't know yet, but I will probably try and fit "inteli-levers" or whatever they are called, those meccano looking, snap back into place type things control levers.

probably wait until I bin my new Honda and snap the levers first Laughing

This was on the sighting lap at the Hafren a few years ago

Once you had got used to the bike again you could start to use more power and I had my 450 maxed while chasing my brother over certain sections over the fire tracks, with the rear fish tailing a bit at 85 Twisted Evil

For cheap bar risers I used some handlebar clamps under the bars and longer bolts
