PLEASE LOG IN TO BCF TO SEE PHOTOS

I thought l would start a thread showing my progress on my latest adventure. Apart from four 2-week trips to morocco over the last few years l haven't attempted any long trips since l went to central Asia back in 2009 which ended early due to problems back home and with the bike.

Now once again l am in a position to take off again having learnt lessons from previous trips l'm leaving the UK with no ties or responsibility to stop me from carrying on. I'm currently working my last two weeks at work and all my belongings are being sold or placed into storage and my current tenancy ended.

On the 13th June l will be flying to Halifax Nova scotia were i will be collecting my bike a 2009 BMW G650X Challenge and meeting up with another British rider on a DRZ400. Together we are going to be riding the Trans-Canada Adventure Trail (TCAT) which is a 16,000km+ 10-week trail ride running from St.john's Newfoundland in the east to Vancouver Island in the west. Mapping for the trail was only completed at the end of last year so there is the possibly that we will be some of the first British riders to ride the complete trail.

The riding of the trail is not the end for me though as l have managed to get a 1 year work visa so will be staying over in Canada till the following summer of 2014, From there l will be riding down though the USA to Central and South America on what will in all likelihood be adventure of a lifetime.

I was curious so I did a google.
Found the Graveltravel.ca site (clicky link) that had some useful info and also free GPS files for this.

Great link! that looks like a great ride! Long stretches of gravel roads are the bees knees in adv riding.

An interesting choice, will be keen to follow the trip, I see myself emigrating to Canada one day. Take lots of photos (I never stopped for photos during the best bits of my trip).

Hoping everything goes well if you were still on it, could always work for the remainder of the year, and then ride south, see how far you get, Argentinian Stake eh?

I'd give my right arm to do something like this (after the ride obviously - who knows what with the health system over the bordeer in the States I might be able to do that).

Best of luck fella/s. Keep us posted. Very Happy

BMW G650X Challenge ready for air freight in a few weeks time. With a few new modifications added since morocco last year.

Hidden kill switch connected to a motion alarm and dash led, Oil cooler, Scottoiler, Windscreen, 45mm Marzocchi shiver forks, Hotrod welding steel subframe and pannier rack, Adventure spec magadan pannier bags, KTM front fender, Two 30w T6 led auxiliary lamps.

Also gone back to the standard exhaust but with the catalytic converter removed as the remus was far too loud.

Air freight to Halifax was over £1k almost twice the cost of shipping by sea, but sending a bike by sea is very unreliable only worth doing on the way back as it doesn't matter if it turns up a few weeks or months late.

Brought it from this lot, from memory they marked the customs declaration down so there was no VAT to pay which is a bonus.

Will defiantly see you lot before l fly out on the 13th June. Thumbs Up
