It's like windows 8 but worse, nothing is where it was.

I think i'd rather use vistAIDs.

FTFY

Most of the changes are due to the ability to administer all of your servers from one place. I'm surprised that anyone with the responsibility to administer servers cannot make the tiny step forward to 2012.

Either way, you're stuck with it - MS may be making some small tweaks with blue (Windows 8.1) but 'metro' is here to stay. In your position I'd suggest knuckling down and learning it rather than becoming sidelined with obsolete knowledge.

Current annoyance with 2012 - SNMP. Not only have they depreciated it (not that MS has bothered with anything more than v2 anyway) they now don't include the admin tools required to configure the service, it's a separate installer (or use the snap-in on a 2k8 machine and then alternatively a GPO). Well done, great job.

And that bloody desktop interface! Mad

CIM!

It's a funny thing, MS get blasted for relying on old tech, and as soon as they update anything everyone complains. You just have to learn to move on.

Meh, the interface for 2012 is only missing the start menu, I hardly ever use it anyway - windows key, type the app name or the shortcut menu on the task bar...

I'm not saying 2012/8 is the greatest thing in the world, but the arguments trotted out the most are just plain silly... copy+paste from some anti MS article or based on the 'I don't like change' mantra.
