You can ride the 400 at the age of 17 if you sit your bike test and restrict the bike to 33bhp.

You might want to think about getting a cheap geared 50 while you can, so that once you turn 17 you can get stuck straight into your test. If you buy an old 50 you shouldn't really lose anything when you come to sell it.

You can't take a motorcycle test at 16.

Ah rite.

You can take your CBT at 16 or 17, it's up to you.

A CBT allows you to ride a moped at 16, and nothing else. (A moped can have gears - before people pipe up Razz)

To ride a 400 you would have to take a full motorcycle test, which can only be taken at 17.

Your insurance will suck at 16 or 17. It's the price you pay for being young and inexperienced I'm afraid.
