Help Please with these carb's from my 1988 FZ600

https://img541.imageshack.us/img541/7867/carbs.jpg

I've taken them off for two reasons:

A) To Clean Them

B) To Try and Fit the air box which does not fit aahhhh

My Problem is pipes1 and 3.I don't remember disconnecting them!!!
i don't think they are part of the vacuum system???
pipe 2 is fuel feed I'm sure.
Where do they fit???

I'm 99% sure these are not FZ600 Carbs!!The only numbers i can find are on the front of the butterflies 140 stamped on them.Anyone know what they are off???

Regards Sniff

2 is the fuel hose yes.

When fitting the airbox, heat the airbox rubbers with a hair dryer. Makes it much easier to get them back on.

Tried That,I think these carbs are off another 600,they seem a couple of millimeters too big.....Look at them they are not 22years old. Airbox is original yamaha.

They do look original.

You could always get cone filters and jet to suit OR buy a new set of airbox rubbers from yamaha.

Unless the airbox was designed before the late 80s. Even then only if its on a more expensive bike AND that still doesnt guarantee a decent airbox design, especially on sidedraught motors.

The FZ has a fairly primitive airbox, so i doubt, subject to proper jetting, it would adversly affect performance.

If you have K&N style cones, you can fix a shield to the outer pods made from an empty drinks can and a bit of meccano. Looks surprisingly good after a touch of paint too.

Alternatively you can get cone filters with plastic shields on them as well.

Maybe start with a new thread?

Don't find the airbox a major problem on my FZ600. Certainly less spanner work than taking the airbox of my ZXR.

Sounds like the main jets/needle positions need to be played with the get it running right.

You call yours the turd, mine is De Boss of Crap (registration plate basically spells it). That and the fact someone gave me the bike Smile
