Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone has experience of using Motorex oil

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorex-Semi-Synthetic-4T-4-Litre-Motorcycle-Engine-Oil-4L-4-L-/310630250637?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item485301788d

Or any recommendations for good value oil. Its for my ZX6R which I do very little miles on road and 1 or 2 trackdays a year.

Cheers

Thumbs Up

Any oil with A3/B3 in the API spec will be good enough for any road bike aslong as the viscosity is correct

I covered this last time you mentioned this. Firstly, A3/B3 is an ACEA spec, not API. Secondly, there are no ACEA specs recommended for bikes; they generally recommend an old API spec and maybe a JASO clutch slip spec. An A3/B3 may well do you a good job, but then so will plenty of other options, and you'll only find ACEA specs on car oils.

Thanks whitedevil

I think I'll go for the Motul as they have a deal on at Demon Tweeks which is where I was planning on going.

you are indeed correct about the api - acea, however an acea a3/b3 is still the spec to look for with the correct viscocity.

it just shows that us engineers who go to big word school to get our bits of paper do make a mistake now and again.
