Morning all,

I've been noticing for a little while that my bandit isn't doing as many miles to the tank as she used to. It has got to the point where I think I am losing about 60miles per tank.

I just wondered whether anyone had experienced this before or had some suggestions of where I might start to diagnosis this problem.

It could be that the little digital display is telling me porkies but wanted to seek your advice first.

Thanks

Slack chain? Semi-flat tyres? Old plugs? Clogged air filter? Fist got heavier due to sunshine?

Keep on top of your servicing if you want best MPG.

Could be a number of things.

First thing I'd check is the air filter is clean - when did you last change it?

If the bike stinks of fuel then perhaps the carbs are worn - how many miles has it done?

Is there any fuel coming out of the overflows? If so perhaps the fuel tap is faulty and letting fuel past when off.

Can you describe the bike and how it is running in more detail?

Check for loose or split fuel lines, could also be brakes dragging due to stuck pistons.

Thanks Guys.

I'll give a more thorougher update on servicing this evening.

But for the moment she's a 2003 Bandit 600s, used all year round and serviced regularly. 25,000 on the clock. I'll go through the paper work and let you know about plugs, air filter etc tonight, plus I'll sniff for fuel!

Ok, so the following got done in a 2011 service at 23000 miles

Oil filter
Air filter
Spark plugs

The next service was done in 2013 at 25000 miles

Oil filter

She is used all year round although 2012 was a bit of low mileage!

Any thoughts?
Feel the discs after a nice gentle ride. Touch em as soon as you stop, if a calipers dragging that disc will be red hot.
Did the test this morning and discs cool to touch so no problems with the callipers dragging.

Any other thoughts?
